Fun once you understand the rules
I've played this both solo and with my wife and it's a lot of fun in both situations. I like that you can earn skill points on your character which help you in future adventures. It did take a while to understand the rules and I did have to sit down and watch a video on it but ultimately the best way to learn is just start playing and pick through the rule book for "okay what do I need to know next" rather than trying to have a full understanding of it before you start. The first play-through I thought it was way too easy and it turned out that's because I wasn't following the rules quite right and I should have died a long time ago but that's okay, it's all part of the learning process. The "use time" mechanic seemed strange to me because it's presented as a negative thing: a consequence of failing to attack the monster as well as you could have or the cost to use a special ability. "Using time" mean discarding cards from the deck which brings you closer to the next level of the dungeon, which ultimately brings you closer to the main boss at the end and thus the end of the game so you would think that "using time" is a good thing. After all the sooner you get to the boss the fewer monsters you have to kill. But after giving it a lot of thought I realized that each of the monsters and challenges you face along the way gives you (if you are successful at defeating them) experience, items, skills ... things you'll need to be strong enough to defeat the boss. So letting time pass "discarding cards" and not facing those challenges means you're missing the opportunity to obtain the benefits of having faced and defeated those challenges.

if you love dice rolling..
it's like roll for it but with a fantasy theme and dice mitigation, i very much enjoy dice chuckers and this games a solid choice that'll give you a good challenge, and the fantasy theme doesn't feel pasted on, it made the game much more entertaining.

How does a great game become even better?
Easy, it releases an expansion that also works as a standalone that adds a ton of depth and replayability to a great card game! Seriously, I adore one deck dungeon, as someone who loves board games but lacks friends and family who wants to play often. Getting to have a blast, with friends, or solo, is a great thing.

Very challenging game with a very poorly written rulebook
This is a fun game, but it's pretty dang difficult to beat. My husband and I have played twice now and won both times, but it was a miracle that we did. In our first playthrough, we cheated a little bit, but it was entirely because the rulebook is horrendous. It's so hard to understand, and the order in which the rules are written is baffling. Once we figured everything out (I hope we actually did), it was a bit more challenging but also more fun since attempting to understand the rules got pretty stressful during our first game. My husband likes the challenge and will likely be playing solo sometimes, and honestly, I don't have much of a problem with the level of difficulty because we ended up actually needing all of our potions and skills and whatnot. The difficulty matched the setup, if that makes sense. Other than the rulebook, my only other complaint is that the game certainly does not take thirty minutes, unless maybe you die before winning? It took us over an hour both times, not including reading through the rules, so that seems noteworthy. Overall, it's a fun, challenging game that's hard to understand at first because of the maze of a rulebook, and it will likely take much longer than 30 minutes to play.

Dice chucking fantasy game to play alone or with others in a single game or a campaign. This game has it all in a small package.
I love the challenge this game offers. I have the original One Deck Dungeon as well and really enjoy this game. The concept of poison is what really separates this from the original in terms of changing gameplay mechanics. There are new heroes to play with, new dungeons to enter, and new campaigns to begin. The amount of gameplay and fun in this little box is unmatched as far as I am concerned. The campaigns are what really make this something that I play once a night. After playing several nights in a row, I feel like I have gained perspective about when I should and shouldn’t attempt a challenge. Building your skills up over time and finally beating a boss you have tried to beat a few times before is really gratifying when you play a campaign. If you like chucking dice, a fantasy theme, and a game you can play by yourself or with others, definitely get this one and the original. It is probably not appealing to everyone, but if it sounds interesting, you will probably like it. If you played Dragonwood and wanted more or desired for it to be cooperative, you will love either One Deck Dungeon game.

Great expansion to a great game!
This is a fantastic game! If you don't own the base set yet, buy that first and then buy this. Nice and easy to pick up. I play this game with friends who are just getting into board games and don't have a lot of experience with more complicated games. My 8 year old brother in law was able to play this game no problem and the adults I've played this with love it as well. I like that the games are small enough to travel with as well. Makes airport layovers much less boring.

Incredible game!
This game is AMAZING. I bought both the original version and this one and I am so glad I did. The rules are fairly straightforward once you’ve learned them, and the guide suggests minor modifications you can implement to change the difficulty depending on how experienced you are. It’s captivating, regardless of whether you play it on your own or with a friend (or friends, if you combine decks). All in all, I would highly recommend this game to all of my friends. And I do. My friends are probabilities getting tired of me raving about it.

Ton of fun! Very challenging
This game is hard! You can make your own rules or handicaps, but this game is fun. I love playing it. It can get boring after playing constantly, as it is the same cards over and over. But playing it every so often with different characters keeps the magic alive. There are different dungeon bosses, making an easy, medium, hard, difficult levels. And a notepad is included that allows you to 'level up' your characters, which I found myself really trying to complete.
