Tombow 82038 Fudenosuke Brush Pen, Soft and Hard Tip Fudenosuke Brush Pen for Calligraphy and Art Drawings

I’ve been searching for a black, permanent, non-bleeding pen to go over all my colored pencil work, but I kept having the trouble of wax buildup on all of the tips. Then I found these, and as you can tell by the pictures they worked absolutely incredible. I have to wipe off the tip every now and then but nothing compared to what I was having to do before.They dry down to a matte finish, which is really nice so the outlines don’t stand out as something that shouldn’t be there. I would definitely recommend these for anyone who needs a good fine liner or a good black pen to write with.

I have been using these brush lettering pens for about one year, and they have taken my hand-lettering to a whole other level! I previously tried the Tombow Fudenosuke Hard Tip brush pens and although they are great for beginners, they did not produce the thin and thick strokes that I desired. These soft tip pens are very flexible, enabling me to write faster and more smoothly then with other pens. I use them on fine printer paper and my planner and they have not frayed. Some of the markers bring more ink than others, so make sure to do a test run on scratch paper before working on your actual art/writing piece. My main use for these markers is modern calligraphy dedicated to evangelism on social media, so I go through these markers fairly quickly. I still have two of these pens left unopened and I purchased them over four months ago. As expected, these brush pens are high quality and I highly recommend them. In terms of my hand-lettering abilities, I am at an advanced level but would recommend them to anyone who enjoys hand-lettering with an intermediate level, as they might be difficult to use--in terms of brush strokes--for most beginners.

love, Love, LOVE THIS PEN!!! This little pen is AMAZING and a GAME CHANGER for anyone who does ink drawings. The majority of my work is black and white, forward & negative. So a black pen is CRUCIAL in my work. And I FINALLY found it! The fudenosuke is a FABULOUS pen, easy to hold and even easier to use. For drawing and lettering, I'm going to have a hard time finding anything better. My Mom even stole one if my Fudenosuke's! She LOVES it to do her outlines in her color books. Good value for the money I think. WORTH EVERY CENT!!

I sometimes make posters and thought I would try some different handwriting styles. An artist friend told me about these pens. I must say I like how the sit in the hand, and write, and I find myself using them for other things. They seem to last a long time too.

Easy to use for beginners. Can write strokes somehow like a bush pen, but need less skills required for using a brush pen. It would be closer to a bush pen if the tip is a bit more softer? In addition, the ink won’t last long. Ink will be used up after writing about 3-5 thousands Chinese characters. I wander if the manufacturer can improve the ink capability or use cartridges.

I have been studying Japanese for about a year now an have tried many pens like this one but unlike the others the Tombow brush pens is way better then the others. It feels good In your hand everything from the ink flow to the amount of pressure you use allows you to get the desired results you wish. Especially when writing in Japanese everything needs to be perfect an this pen allows you to be consistent when writing or drawing. Plus the pen last a lot longer then the others I have used I don’t write of cheap paper so I can really see the difference in the ink quality as well best product ever it’s totally inexpensive & worth it.

I love these pens. The tips are flexible so that you can have a thick or thin line depending on the pressure you use. They last a long time if you continue to cover them when not in use.

My dad absolutely loves these calligraphy pens. They are a bit pricy but totally worth it. Will get more for sure.

A great brush pen that you can take with you without worry of ink leaking! Its rubbery tip doesn't break down like fibre based ones so it remains consistent. Its sensitive enough to allow variations in width. Obviously a real brush is what you want for artwork but this is perfect for writing cards, notes, and other casual projects and seems resistant to water so I'm also using it for labelling jars.
