I needed this to complete a repair I was making on a home project. The profile I was trying to match up to was super intricate and detailed and without this tool, was a total headache. Once I received this profile tool, I used it right away and it captured every curve and edge of the profile I was trying to duplicate - so easy to transfer the pattern before I started cutting again!! 10/10 would recommend! Work smarter, not harder!

I was hesitated to order this thing based on reviews as well as just looking at its construction and that of it’s many siblings. I went with this one hoping the fact that it was $10 more expensive than those that look just like it it might be of higher quality. And in the past I have used construction grade metal gauges with a much finer comb. And I did not expect one of these to match up to those but I also did not expected to fall so far short. It works OK if being pushed straight in to a Square profile but if you try to use it on a 45 or past the break of a curve on a pipe, the comb simply spreads so you do not get an accurate pattern and no amount of adjustment makes any difference. But because I need something to pattern complex contours more than likely, I will just give it to one of the kids to play with.

This contour gauge is great for a quick trace of pretty much anything you need to make or shape. Where ti really shines is when laying almost any type of flooring to work around walls, posts, and other obstacles.The concept is simple and your traces aren't going to be perfect, but you'll get a reasonably accurate result. It's definitely better than not having this handy tool.I have a lawnmower project coming up and I need to form some sheetmetal. I'm really looking forward to adapting this gauge to that application.The locking feature is nice, but it will take a little finesse to get a good imprint. Overall this is a good value as the Quinn brand gauge at Harbor Frieght is only $2 less.

This tool is super easy to use and pretty durable. I have only used this on a couple small jobs but has been a added tool.

I got this tool because my wife wants to get into woodworking and complex shapes are always the trickiest. This tool will make creating those cutting templates way easier for her and for me.All that comes in the box is the contour tool and an Allen wrench. The instructions are printed on the back of the box. The Allen wrench is for adjusting the looseness and tightness of the many tiny fingers and the tools locking mechanism. It did take a bit of dialing in the tightness of the tool with the wrench to get it just right. Once I got the tension where I wanted it, it does an excellent job of getting the approximate shapes.I showed it to my wife and it's got her excited to start working on various wood projects. It's a nice tool to have and I am looking forward to using it a bunch more. 5 stars.

It’s definitely on the cheaper side of this type of tool. While unlocked, pushing it up against whatever you want to copy the plastic pieces will try to separate themselves. You have to do it a few times to really get a good outline. Some of them stick together also. I’ve tried adjusting the end of it a few times and still have the same results. As I said it does work with some playing around with but don’t get this if you want to be quick with it.

I got this specifically because i was re-shaping a guitar neck. Using an existing guitar neck profile. It worked quite well. Now that that existing project is done, I still have the tool and it will be useful for house projects like, installing flooring and getting door jam profiles, etc.... Again, works very well, locks into place easily once you've found your profile.

I find this profile tool incredibly handy for transferring contours with precision, especially when working with tiles. The tool is made of high-quality materials and features a reliable clamping mechanism. It's a valuable addition to my toolkit.
