as a flight attendant I depend on this alarm
Yes you have your phone, But to many hotels I travel do not have working alarms so this is my go to The light feature is a plus in a dark room at night. If you travel all the time just carry an extra batter AA I think...This is on my night table every night all over the world! And beside my home bedside table.,And in my quest room too!!!

Adequate but ticking is too loud and hatch lid not well designed
Pros: the clock face is relatively clean and easy to read.Cons:1. the second hand motion is not silent. Although it doesn't have the once-per-second ticking of a traditional quartz clock, the continuous motion of the second hand is not really silent. In fact, it is pretty loud. Instead of ticking every second, it is ticking once every 200 milliseconds. This is particularly loud in quiet surroundings, and sounds like constant mechanical buzzing. Not good for sleeping.2. The battery hatch design seems like an afterthought. The lid easily falls into the battery compartment as the space is too large and there is no mechanism to prevent falling. You will immediately notice this when you install the battery.3. The illumination light seems to be incandescent light instead of LED. If so, the longevity of the light is in question and it is kind of an odd choice for a 21st century clock.

Although Highly Rated The Unit Received Caused The New AA Battery To Heat Up To Bursting!
Carefully installing the single AA Battery into the compartment, the first thing noticed was the cover for the battery compartment is very difficult to align properly to re-seal, with the cover falling into the clock interior which is hard to get out. However, the worst part was after placing the battery into the unit, I smelled something like "burning electrical wires and/or burning plastic," with the new AA battery expanding and heating up fast. To prevent any chance of catching on fire, resorted to handy pliers to force out this battery. Therefore, the "Quality Control" is seriously wanting, and the design for battery replacement poor, resulting the unit received was (in the writer's opinion) a potential: "Fire Hazard."Otherwise I would have given it a better rating as exterior features are very good.

Just what I needed
I woke up one morning and my Apple phone had shut off and I had to hard reboot it. It’s happened a couple times. No big deal unless I have an early flight to catch and can’t run the risk of oversleeping. I got this travel alarm to set along with my phone so I have a backup alarm. Works great. Small. Lightweight. Uses a AA battery and not one of those button ones which can be pricey.

Keeps time very well.
This clock is small enough to tuck in on a shelf and stay inconspicuous. I put mine in the bathroom so I stay on track when getting ready to go out.

cheap clock, too cheap
Battery door kept falling off. I returned it and got the Peakeep, which is almost as cheap and much better quality.
