A Well Thought Out Convertable Pack
The quality from ALPS Outdoorz is top notch. All the straps, buckles, stitching, and fabrics used are high end. This is one of the best hunting packs I've ever purchased. I originally purchased the ALPS Little Bear and though it is of the same exact quality I found it too small for a long day in the stand. The Big Bear is perfect in that the upper pack folds down and zips away when not in use. It's big enough to hold all my needs, food, coffee, water, hunting essentials, and still have room to stuff my heavy coat into it if it gets warmer by noon. I'm not a big guy but im not small either. 5'8" and 240lbs. so I've got a Santa gut. The straps fit nicely even over my heavy coat. This pack just plain works for every situation. Well worth it's cost.

Best pack I've ever used!
I love this pack! it is incredibly versatile and can carry everything I need for a day in the woods. I carry: heavy gloves, extra hat, extra face mask, bow hanger, haul line, headlamp, call, hand and feet warmers, binoculars, rangefinder, some field dressing glove kits, a bottle of scent, usually a couple bottles of water and a few snacks, and a couple knives. All of this fits easily and in a way that everything is accessible without noisily rooting around in the dark. I haven't had to use the expandable upper compartment yet ether. The straps are comfortable, the clips and seems are heavy duty, nothing rustles too much or makes noise (i.e. no useless Velcro), and a neat trick with the waist strap is that you can clip it around the tree behind you to keep it out of the way but within hands reach at all times. I am COMPLETELY satisfied with this pack. If you are someone who is only going hunting for one day at a time this is your pack.

Great pack at a great pric
This is a great day pack. Very convient and in expensive. The only issue I have is the main back strap. I am a big guy, 6' 250lbs, and so I have a big chest and about a size 40 waist. The back straps can be uncomfortable because they dont fit me perfectly. I have to adjust the pack almost everytime I put it on to be comfortable on my back and neck. It wants to ride up really bad and touch the back of my neck. Its not a deal breaker, just a concern that could be looked at in the future. Other then this, its an awesome pack. Main pocket is much larger then I expected. and when you make the bag "bigger" it becomes alot bigger. You could carry some game with it im sure. Hopefully will be able to test it out this season.

Exceeded my expectations
Lightweight, well constructed, roomy, and durable. I researched a lot of day packs to replace my heavier and bulky backpack that I had used for many years while deer hunting. This one looked like it would be perfect and hold all of my gear, including a full-size Canon camera and telephoto lens. There was plenty of room for everything and it is very light. It was excellent in both tree stands and ground blinds. It is very stable and affords easy access. The large zipper pulls worked great, especially when wearing thick gloves. I could keep everything easily organized . VERY roomy inside, and the side pockets were great for a rifle clip in one and scent in the other. I highly recommend this expandable day pack. It truly did exceed my expectations.

Nice pack but has its flaws
This pack is overall a good pack. I bought it for hunting to carry a few cameras and survival gear. Basically stuff for a day being in the woods. It has plenty of room for what I need. It appears to be stitched well and the material seems to be able to hold up to some weight and general use. The issue I have found is the waist belt claims to go from 30 inches to 60 inches. It does not go anywhere near 60 inches however. You are lucky if you get the 30 maybe 40 inches out of the waist belt. You got to be super skinny for the waist belt to fit. You can still use it as a backpack but I wasn't looking for another backpack to carry around. I had to buy some extendable straps to replace the waist belt before I could even use it. That's really the only negative I've seen of it so far.

Well designed & sturdy
This is an awesome piece of gear. It can hold a lot of your supplies/gear and is solidly constructed and comfortable.

This keeps the weight on the hips and off the shoulders. The top of the waist pack houses a fold out back pack. This is an ideal hunting pack as you can keep it folded and this keeps your back and shoulders free while hunting and you can then open the backpack to pack out your meat after a successful day out. Also can team up with the alps bino pack for the included clips on the front. Top top product.

Bietet viel Platz und trägt sich angenehm. Schnell mal runter und wieder anziehen allerdings ist mit den Gurten nicht so möglich.

Carried a Big Bear pack for a week during moose hunting; To and from my stand. It was hotter than usual, so I didn't have to carry as much clothes as I normally carry. The extra room (I call it backpack mode!) was used to carry layers I took off instead of carrying extra layers to my stand. I could fit my big hunting jacket inside it, so it's very roomy. I carried a rangefinder in my left belt pocket and my GPS in the right belt pocket.I was pretty happy these fit in those little pockets. It's snug, but perfect. I was a tiny bit annoyed how far those little pockets actually are though. I would of thought they came in more towards the front part of your hips. Luckily, all zippers have little cords on them, so it's a non-issue. Weight is fairly well balanced. I didn't try to load it with very heavy stuff though. A nice pack that's very adaptable.
