Chefy likee
Discovered this out at sushi one night and adore it for home use. I probably would have ended up using it professionally if I was back in smaller, more unique restaurants instead of retirement after selling out & going corporate... ok, that just cracked me up... anyway, great product. Palate-wise, I appreciate the complexity. Sure, its hot but not crazy. In addition to the chili heat I get sesame, hemp seed, and very mild citrus.Value? Stroke of genius to hunt for it here & you came to the right place. Since mine is just for personal use I don't see myself purchasing again unless I send it as a gift. Now that I think about it, that's exactly what I'm going to do & this is exactly where I'm going to send it from.Couldn't be more satisfied with quality, taste, freshness, value, minimal packaging, & prompt delivery.

Spice Perfection!
Purchasing a small jar of this spice from our local butcher was a decision made on a whim, with little expectation or knowledge of what awaited us. However, from the moment we opened that jar and experienced its aromatic allure, we knew we had stumbled upon something truly remarkable. And now to find on Amazon! This spice has become an indispensable staple in our kitchen, elevating every dish it touches with its incredible flavor profile. Whether sprinkled on meats, stirred into sauces, or even added to fresh vegetables, it never fails to impress. The depth of flavor it imparts is nothing short of exceptional. What's even more remarkable is the price point. For the quality and quantity of spice you receive, it's an absolute steal here. We find ourselves reaching for it time and time again, and each time we do, it never disappoints. In summary, this spice is a culinary revelation. It has transformed our cooking and added a new dimension of flavor to our meals. If you're in search of something truly special to enhance your Asian style dishes, look no further. Good nanami!
In California, I can buy bottled Nanami in many Asian supermarket. However, because I use them on fish, meat, ramen, soups, and many other things, the half oz bottles can get really expensive and inconvenient when needed in bulk. I see Nanami sold in bulk in the markets in Japan. However in California, there's no place that sell this in bulk. But guess what, I found it on Amazon. This is the same popular brand I find in local supermarket, but much better priced. I refill the small half oz bottle with the bag, and also use them from the bag when I need to use a lot.Reading some other views online, I just want to add a little more information about Nanami here. Many translate Nanami as "7 pepper spice mix". While the actual Nanami or Togarashi sometimes only consists of one or two dried peppers. Some flavor uses chilli pepper and asian hot pepper. Some others use chilli pepper and chinese peppercorns (which is not a Capsicum). But all the Nanami are more spicy flavorful, then hot. This is not a very hot pepper spice like one expects from Indian, Thai, or Spanish cuisines. The ingredients listed on S&B Nanami are:chili pepper, orange peel, sesame seeds, Japanese pepper, ginger and seaweedI like Nanami on many Japanes cuisines. It's very flavorful, and not too spicy.

The pepper spice tastes good, but the price is more expensive than that sold in the supermarket.

7 pepper spice mix is delicious on EVERYTHING!
I read in the NYT food section that Nanami Schichimi Togarashi 7 Pepper spice mix made everything taste better. So I bought the little bitty bottle to try it out. Holy Cow! It really did taste great on everything! Then I bought a big bag and have refilled the little bottle a couple times! It’s hot peppery but not too much. There’s other seeds in it that are delicious. It’s great cooked with vegetables, chicken breast - savory - equally yummy sprinkled on cottage cheese. I’ve been experimenting with it on all sorts of things - all great! Hmmm I think I’ll try it on a bagel with cream cheese next!I keep it with the salt and pepper shakers - that’s how splendid it is ❤️

Good ratio of heat and flavor!
Nice balanced blend. Bright orange/red color. Not super spicy but gives you just the right amount of heat. Has notes of citrus and sesame blended with chili peppers. Love this on rice, tuna m, chicken, pork and veggie stir fry.
