7 pepper spice mix is delicious on EVERYTHING!
I read in the NYT food section that Nanami Schichimi Togarashi 7 Pepper spice mix made everything taste better. So I bought the little bitty bottle to try it out. Holy Cow! It really did taste great on everything! Then I bought a big bag and have refilled the little bottle a couple times! It’s hot peppery but not too much. There’s other seeds in it that are delicious. It’s great cooked with vegetables, chicken breast - savory - equally yummy sprinkled on cottage cheese. I’ve been experimenting with it on all sorts of things - all great! Hmmm I think I’ll try it on a bagel with cream cheese next!I keep it with the salt and pepper shakers - that’s how splendid it is ❤️

Good ratio of heat and flavor!
Nice balanced blend. Bright orange/red color. Not super spicy but gives you just the right amount of heat. Has notes of citrus and sesame blended with chili peppers. Love this on rice, tuna m, chicken, pork and veggie stir fry.

Great deal, great seasoning!
Right on point! Just like they have at Yoshinoya! And the amount that you get for the price is the best deal in town!

If you like togarushi, cheaper to buy in bulk.
I may be addicted to this togarashi... I have a small 15g bottle at work and it's much cheaper and convienent to keep refilling it from this larger bag.

Spice Perfection!
Purchasing a small jar of this spice from our local butcher was a decision made on a whim, with little expectation or knowledge of what awaited us. However, from the moment we opened that jar and experienced its aromatic allure, we knew we had stumbled upon something truly remarkable. And now to find on Amazon! This spice has become an indispensable staple in our kitchen, elevating every dish it touches with its incredible flavor profile. Whether sprinkled on meats, stirred into sauces, or even added to fresh vegetables, it never fails to impress. The depth of flavor it imparts is nothing short of exceptional. What's even more remarkable is the price point. For the quality and quantity of spice you receive, it's an absolute steal here. We find ourselves reaching for it time and time again, and each time we do, it never disappoints. In summary, this spice is a culinary revelation. It has transformed our cooking and added a new dimension of flavor to our meals. If you're in search of something truly special to enhance your Asian style dishes, look no further. This spice is a must-have in any kitchen, and we couldn't recommend it more highly.

Pepper Spice
The pepper spice tastes good, but the price is more expensive than that sold in the supermarket.

I like it!
Glad I bought the nanami which apparently has little or no sichaun (hot) pepper in it - just "Japanese pepper" which I take to be mostly shishito (less hot) green pepper, a little like jalapeño or a good dose of (US) chili powder. Anyway, there is a bit of a lasting burn to this nanami togarashi at the back of the tongue and throat which is just about right, if you use it sparingly. Too much, and it is likely sufficient to light your fire all the way through your gastrointestinal tract. Start with a very light sprinkle (a smidgen) and adjust from there. This "10 oz" bag is easily a lifetime supply for me.As for the contents warning, its a "California" type and not a "federal" one, with the phrase "CAN expose you to chemicals, including Cadmium and lead, known ... to cause birth defects etc....". Whether this relates to the processing or growing process, or both, who knows. (Compare to the federal warning on adult beverages containing alcohol.) You probably get more exposure to such chemicals just breathing the polluted air and drinking the tap water in most major US cities. Search it on the internet, if your that concerned about it. I'm too old to care much about such warnings, or reproduction any longer - thank the gods.
