Just what I was looking for to use with my rain barrels. I used it for watering plants, and also for transferring water between barrels. It worked quickly and was easy to set up. I did follow the instructions to put some oil and water into the inlet. It was fairly noisy, and did heat up quickly. Knowing this, I need to plan how long I will use it, before I let it cool down. I suffer through the weekly noise of my neighbors' leaf blowers, so I didn't feel too guilty about the pump's noise. The strainer stands on its end, and does not lie down flat. The included 6' hoses came in handy. The best feature is the on/off switch. This allows me to shut it off quickly.

I use this pump to transfer big jugs of RO water to my 50 gallon fish tank. It has the power to make it happen and its not too powerful either. I put a sponge filter on the end of the hose filling the tank and it doesn't disturb the substrate at all what so ever. The flow rate is perfect for it. It's not a quite pump by any means, the noise level is a bit high, but the value for the money is fantastic and its as simple as it could possibly be. I do this over a hardwood floor and I can transfer a lot of water with out spilling a drop.

Worked well for 4 months under occasional use but no longer pumps water even though the motor and shaft continues to spin. At the price, I expected a much longer life.UPDATE: I replaced the impeller, cleaned the flow area and greased the motor shaft. Now, the pump is moving water again. I upgraded my rating to four stars, not 5, because I believe the impeller should work longer than 4 months.

Pump is not too loud. Works great. Pump rate is really good for its size. Have used it twice already and I am happy with it.

I had purchased what I consider the early version of these pumps for draining boilers and water heaters with a plastic pump. It lasted me for years until someone dropped it on the floor and broke the pump nipple. I purchased this unit and I liked the fact it has a metal pump housing. It comes with a switch that is worthless and you have to shake it to get it to turn the pump On, I might get rid of it as it doesn't really work. The pump itself leaked the very first time I used it. Its a long shot from the previous model that I miss as it was far more reliable than this. It does come with hoses that are not cheap and work.

Good product works really good

Great pump to empty my hot water heater. I am sure it will come in handy again. A double female hose would be better than two male/female hoses in the package. I had a spare that worked fine.
