Sleek Design with Plenty of Storage
Sleek Design with Plenty of Storage This SanDisk Ultra Luxe 256GB USB 3.1 drive has been a solid performer for me. The all-metal casing feels sturdy and has a nice weight in hand, so it doesn’t come across as flimsy like some plastic drives. Its compact size makes it easy to keep on a keychain or in a laptop bag, and I appreciate that it doesn’t feel bulky even though it packs a generous 256GB of storage. In use, transfer speeds have been consistently fast for everyday tasks like moving videos, photos, and large documents. While it won’t quite match an SSD, for a flash drive it’s quick and reliable. The fact that it’s USB 3.1 means it works great on modern laptops, but it’s also backward compatible with older USB ports, which I’ve tested on a few different machines without any issues. One thing to be mindful of is that the all-metal design can get a little warm during prolonged transfers, but nothing concerning. The drive also doesn’t have a protective cap, so if you’re prone to tossing it into dusty pockets or bags, you may want to attach it to a keychain loop for better protection. Bottom line: A reliable, fast, and well-built USB drive with plenty of space. Ideal if you want something compact and stylish that can still handle larger files without slowing down.

Works well, but gets toasty.
The 256 GB flash drive works as expected and offers reliable storage in a compact metal design. However, the metal casing tends to get noticeably hot during extended read/write operations. A simple workaround is attaching something metal (paperclip, nail cutter) to act as a heat sink, which effectively cools it down. Overall, it's functional and well-made, but the heat issue is worth noting. Heat is a small issue, I recommend it especially if the price is right.

Smaller on the outside, way more capacity inside, super fast.
This one is huge compared to what I have been using and they fit the slots tight so if I accidentally set my glasses down on them they don't kick out and then give me error messages. They are smaller in their outside physical dimensions as well and fit right next to each other without contacting each other. Performance is very fast loading even large files and it does not require any formatting. They are ready to go. Really worth every penny.

Fairly good drive so far but not a Samsung Bar Plus
This seems to be a decent drive. Not as fast as the Samsung Bar Plus but fairly close on USB 3.0 port, though it does have the occasional temporary slow down on the 2GB+ size files. Haven't noticed any excessive heat when writing these large files as some have stated, just a little warm as to be expected. I imagine the metal casing helps with heat dispersion, just like my Samsungs. As all large capacity USB drives I own, the 1st thing I do is reformat to NTFS to allow playing of videos on my TVs. They don't like the exFat format, which is how this drive comes. I get anywhere from 80 to 95MB transfer rates, though as mentioned before, it will slow for a few seconds with some large files, down to 25-30MB, before resuming USB 3.0 speeds. My Samsungs will average about 110MB and they don't drop in speed like this drive, but they have gone up in pricing over the last couple of years. So overall, this SanDisk Ultra Luxe seems to be a decent drive for the money and I'll probably get more if it holds up. Recommended.

Good Data Storage to Keep on a Key Ring
Fast and Secure Data Storage. I carried this on my keychain for 2 years, (Even went swimming with it accidently) And after drying it out have no problem writing or reading from it. Formatted it to NTFS from FAT32 so I could store large files on it. If I could change one thing it would be to make the hole in it larger to better fit on key rings.

Very well built!
Wow! I didnt realize it was a metal case. This drive is beautiful. I noticed it is a little too tight in the USB-a slot. I really had to press it in...this almost lost it a star. But then I put some 800 GB of videos onto the drive and it took less than an hour to transfer. And it was attached to my M4 Mac Mini via a dock, so an hour is probably slower than it would have been if connected directly. Im just so impressed!

As good as there is
Ya, read speed is fast, but nobody really cares about that. Write speed is slow, but I think that's really just based on usb 3.2; usb 3.0 is almost unusable for large writes. As the tech gets better write speeds will increase. It gets hot, but still works, and cools down quickly. For now, this is about as good as you can get.
