The Best Kneepads Ever
I had these kneepads when I wrestled in high school and college. I repurchased them as an adult because I got back into coaching wrestling. My son who just started wrestling had different kneepads and asked for these when he saw mine. They make a world of difference in comfort for him as he learns the sport versus some kneepads that are basically sleeves with pads from my bikini top sewn into them. Not a fan of flimsy kneepads. These are by far the superior kneepads if you’re looking to actually protect your knees from impact on the mats. It molds to your knee with use. It’s especially helpful now that I’m older. I love that there’s impact protection for your knee on the front and sides. The compression these pads offer minimizes having to adjust them due to slippage. This may be off-putting for some because they may find these difficult to put on. I turn them inside out, slip them on from the bottom end, and pull them up so they turn right side out over my knee. I pull them down so they’re inside out to facilitate taking them off. It’s harder to pull them on like conventional kneepads, especially if you’re sweaty. The process takes getting used to, but I feel the benefit is worth it. These kneepads also keep my knees warm, which I think helps with circulation while I work out. These kneepads got me through my competitive years without injury. They stand up to quite a beating and washing. I could use these for several years, wrestling nine months out of the year. If you’re looking for a substantial kneepad, then look no further. These may seem pricey for one kneepad, but it’s nothing compared to the cost of knee impact injuries. I’m so glad these are still available two decades after I stopped competing. They may look bulkier than some of those trendier kneepads, but this classic withstood the test of time and so will your knees.

Incredibly protective and supportive.
Cliff Keen Air Brace Given a soccer injury, I have undergone ACL surgery and roughly 9 months into my recovery, I started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. My apprehension was pretty strong given the numerous take downs and positions where your knees are rubbing against the mat involved in this sport. The Cliff Keen Air Brace is not only protective but also supportive. It tremendously softened any impact or friction that my knee had with the mat or even against training partners that I rolled with. The fabric is pretty thick and at the same time pleasantly hugs your limb. The thickness of the foam increases in the front and on the sides of the brace which stabilizes the knee further (very important to minimize impact). I have put it in the washer and dryer numerous times without complications. It does drop a little during a training session but it happens only once or twice and despite the sweat, it stays in place afterwards. I'm not usually that raving in my reviews but I have to give credit when it is due. Very solid and satisfying product from Cliff Keen.

Disagree! Quite good for Judo/Jiujitsu/etc.
It's not just a knee pad, it's a brace for support, so it's not going to be AS thin as a knee sleeve with a tiny gel pad, but will actually give your knee front/back and side/side support. I strained my ACL and used this brace for about 4-5 months of Judo after to give me support while bending my knees on pivot throws. It doesn't slip that much, even during groundwork, but yes you'll have to pull it back up once in awhile. I appreciate the little cut-away inside for your kneecap which allows it to float freely and it very protectively pads 2/3 of the way completely around (and 2" above and below) your knee joint. I definitely would recommend this product for a contact sports brace that gives good support + impact protection with no hard pieces to hurt other people.

Great brace.
Super good brace if you want protection while rolling bjj. It will not prevent mcl/acl type injuries from re-occurring, however, it does offer great padding and shock absorption. It will ride down your leg and you will need to pull it up throughout your workout....

Exactly what I was looking for...
I bought one of these after a friend of mine recommended I try one out. I tore the ACL and meniscus cartilage in my right knee 2 years ago in a martial arts class. I had ACL replacement surgery, and have always been a little bit apprehensive about my knee ever since. I twisted it a little during a wrestling class a few months ago, and that put me on the search for something to protect it. This brace works very well. It fits very snugly, and the air pockets provide some serious stability to both the front of the knee and the left and right sides. Further, it does a great job of keeping the knee very warm. Only a person who has had knee surgery and is now living as a "human barometer" can appreciate how warming the joint can make you feel so much better. I take two different grappling / wrestling classes currently, and I wear this brace for both of them. I did not have any significant issues with the brace slipping, and it seemed to stay in place the entire time. (Maybe about a half inch of vertical movement, at most.) There was NO slippage laterally, and I think this speaks to the stability that it provides. Make sure you measure your leg correctly before you order this product. I went to the manufacturer's website, and used their recommendation of measuring the circumference of my BENT knee. It's an important distinction, and you should pay attention to the ordering guide to ensure a proper fit. I am extremely pleased with this product, and feel that it was worth the money. On a related note, I received the product through Amazon very quickly, so kudos to them for that as well.

Excellent for Bent-Knee Grappling!
If you need a good brace without hard parts - a requirement for most competitions - this is a good option. I use this for BJJ - it is actually very easy to flex the knee and doesn't restrict movement at all - in fact the support tubes have cutouts specifically for this purpose. No idea what the previous reviewer is on about - this is a brace made specifically for wrestling by one of the most reputable brands in the business. In fact, I wish it was even more stiff to offer even more support. I use this to provide support for a knee with a weakened MCL. Provides good joint support and padding - far superior to the Shock Doctor brace I used previously (The mid-range model with "flexible support stays" - that one is downright flimsy by comparison, and ironically is extremely uncomfortable when knee is fully bent). I recommend using athletic tape to both keep it in place, as well as firmly strapping the interior support tubes to the leg, which will provide increased support to the knee joint. Its been a bit of trial and error to find a good brace; I recommend this product.

Bulky, quite heavy.
Really did not like this. The description says the product is lightweight and non bulky, but it is quite the opposite. It also felt like I couldn’t really move around in this. If you’re looking for a lightweight, movable, non bulky knee brace, this is not it!

Too hard to bend knee according to son.
My son didn't like it. Too bulky, stiff and constricting on movement. And of course I about how 2 :/ I'm sure it works well for supporting knees, but once a kid gets something stuck in his head he just wont change. so now I went back on amazon and ordered one just like his old one, the brute torque.
