Amazing Z-wave range and stability on firmware 1.4 onwards
I bought this to upgrade and replace an Aeotec Gen500+ USB stick in a HA Yellow. Migrating a 66 node network in HA JSUI directly, or via nvmedit convert. Immediately updated to v1.4 before restoring a backup. World of difference! The network came back up as it should, and lightning fast. My mesh has now recalculated and has less hops/more direct node connections than before. I'm now running 100% on the Zooz USB stick. I had a disaster with unpingable/dead devices with the GPIO and total success with the USB stick, changing nothing else. I don't have a small z-wave network, but be warned on the performance. I'll be buying another ZST39 as backup and getting rid of the Aeotecs now. The GPIO 'may' be better if you only plan on using it with LR devices, yet untested by me. Use simplicity studio ideally or update with no nodes added, or you risk bricking the device - happened to me with the GPIO module. Check this before you do anything else, start with at least v1.4 before adding nodes as there are many issues in previous versions which this stick likely ships with. Looks like v1.5 of firmware will be released soon, and Silicon Labs claim all transmit lockups are fixed in that versions release notes. I see them rarely now on v1.4 and it's not bad like it was, so doesn't damage damage the mesh/automations reliability

Working Perfeclty with Home Assistant
Upgrading to latest firmware is a little bit long winded using the recommended procedure. Didn't risk doing it through Home Assistant. No problems with connectivity, works great.

Works great with Home Assistant
I've downloaded files from Zooz website, updated the firmware to latest via Home Assistant GUI. I did not need Windows PC. It works great with Home Assistant. Range is good, no interference issues with a USB extender cable.

Fast shipping/Superb support
I bought this zooz 800 zst39 for my homeaasistant ( used in conjunction with zwavejs). Despite I live in Italy ( EU ) I've ordered this item because read that is possible to convert the stick from NA frequency to UE frequency. After received the stick ( very fast delivery) I registered it and ask for support for reprogramming it. I've received the response in less then 2 hour!!! Top performance 👏 👌

Stable
I'm using it with home assistant along with philio and fibaro devices, so far I haven't encountered any problems, which is rare in this space.

Works With Home Assistant
Detected by Home Assistant without any issue. Latest version of HA also supports Z-Wave Long Range as well, so easy to protect the garden shed etc!

NOT UK Frequency (set as US but can be changed in firmware)
Trying to set this up to use a Aeotec Multisensor 7 in home assistant. Here in UK and initially it didn't work, the frequency is set to US. Needs to be changed for UK devices and loses the long range. It's a bit of a pain. I used the Simplicity studio software on PC (with the Z-Wave PC Controller tool) that lets you change the frequency region to UK. You can do a web search to find out how to do it. Worked fine after that.

Avoid, and your life will be easier
Avoid! Even if advertised as using the European frequency, it doesn't - and you really don't want to go through the rigmarole of trying to discover how to change the frequency. Not fit for purpose anywhere in Europe.
