It is high quality grinder.
Quality: First I was worried about the product because I never heard of this brand. but the review was good. I am SO glad that I made a purchase of this grinder. I majored in industrial design and worked in product design field so I can see which aspect of the manufacturing process the company tried to save the money. This grinder I can not find any. Even handle is made out of metal, attached by two washers with Allen bolt. I stripped down all the parts to clean because there was a strong smell of grease which I like, personally, but not for food. more I take parts down more I was impressed with the quality of this grinder. There are three bearings holding the drive shaft. bearing are pretty good in tolerance so when I tried to shake the shaft, I could not feel any wobble, but solid feeling. handle nut is even milled out of one piece of metal. (wow) . Grinding level adjustment is very similar to Zassenhaus grinder. very precisely milled holes. Adjusting nut has punched-in balls (like ball point pen). There is simply no plastic at all.Grinding: It is the quietest manual grinder I ever had. ROK is quiet too but this thing is even quieter. Maybe due to an all-metal structure. It grinds fast! I was impressed!Consistency: Looks very very good. I will test it with my espresso machines and will update later.Manual is simple and tells you everything you need to know.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Update after 3 weeks of use.Consistancy is still great. but I found a problem for espresso users. I think one step adjustment is about 150 microns. it can produce fine enough to choke any espresso machine. so simple here is the grind level FOR Mine. Turkish < Finest (Too fine for my La Pavoni BAR) < 2nd Finest (Still choking) < Too course for espresso machine. (even it looks course by visual, consistancy is king tho)After all....I can not find grind level for my espresso machines. but great for drip, and frech press.I found that this makes more consistant ground for drips and french press THAN $700 Grinder!----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Update after 3 weeks. reducing from 5 stars to 4 star.Reason: ball bearing on the top rusted. done. no more need to say. returned it. if it was not that problem, I would keep it forever.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Update after 4 months. (I bought the second one in December 2017)The seller was out of stock for awhile and came back with grinder again so I bought again.BEAWARE it is not the same one. IT IS BETTER ONE!! came revised product all the way. Should the seller sell them as MK2 or Precision Bean Coffee Grinder II?These are the major changes:1. Driveshaft, it was hard to take parts off with first gen model. not take the burr out and drive shaft will fall off easily.2. Grinding adjustment knob. JUST WHOLE LOT BETTER. it looks like it will help ground to fall better and rotating adjusting knob is much easier now. taking the bottom conical burr is so much easier. you don't have to push-and-rotate-push-rotate since there is little space to hold the burr down and knob spins freely.3. They put a better bearing on an upper cap. this bearing is NOW SEALED!!!! yeap.4. NO more industrial grease smell!!SAME 100% metal parts and SOLID quality did not change. So far what I can say is whoever made this grinder? they do validation on their products and they actually came back with a better version of the product. This grinder is not made of copy-cats like fake Harios floating on the internet. They Make, validate, and develop their own grinder. I can say this because I am product designer. So if you are buying this after 12/18/2018? go for it. it is steal at this price point and quality is amazing. they covered all the cons and made all the pros even better. I am So happy with this purchase

Great grinder with on minor glitch.
I so want to give the product 5 stars. The Pros-Top quality precision parts.Fit and finish is greatThe grinder is fast and accurateThe Cons-Heavy, although I do like the feel. The top where you put the beans does not stay securely. Meaning if you held it by the top it just slides apart. Recommend threading it so it screws securely in place together. The bottom where the grounds go has the same issue. It should have something to secure it in place. When you are grinding the beans you have to make sure you hold the middle section and the bottome section so the bottom does not slip off.Last the unit is small holding around 4-5 tablespoons of ground beans. If the manufacturer would offer a way to secure the top and bottom I would give this 5 stars all day!Great effort though!

Built like a tank, this grinder is sure to please those looking for a quality hand grinder.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I purchased this grinder on December 20th, 2017. I wanted to use it for a month before I posted a review. After a month of use, I am pleased to report that I love this grinder. I use it for Chemex pour-over coffee, French press, espresso, and even those little K-Cup filter pods. The grind is very consistent and easy to adjust. My most used brewing method is Chemex pour-over. After I found my ideal grind using the Precision Bean, I noted how many clicks to the right and left to get to other grind settings for my other methods. By noting the clicks, It makes it very easy to repeat a given grind.Pros: Quality construction, Consistent Repeatable Grind, Easy to Use, Easy to Take Apart to Clean.Cons: While it has been a while, sometimes I forget that the top lid and crank are held on by gravity. I have turned the grinder the lid and handle have fallen off. This grinder is built like a tank.It is a pleasure to use and is an excellent part of my morning coffee ritual.

Close but no cigar, and one rather glaring issue.
There were so many great reviews on this, and the price was extremely compelling but alas it's a return. A friend that happens to be a very smitten owner of the Helor 101 is adamant about this grinder treading all over the IP of that revered grinder; most notable the retention mech and catchment. That aside, it has more than a few operational knocks against it.First, best of luck keeping the catch cup (the thing that 'catches' your grinds) from falling off mid-grind. I think if you took the grinder to a hardware store you might find a replacement o-ring with a bit more girth to help keep it secured but the main concern is that the main body needed to extend further in to the catch cup to allow for a little slippage before the cup separates and falls away.Second, if you fancy espresso, the indents on this are to far apart for micro-adjustments needed. The difference between drips and a gusher might be somewhere in between two indents for you. The workaround would be to reverse the retention nut but then you'll likely battle with some burr slippage.Third, burr wobble. It's definitely there and enough that you'll notice in the cup if you have a refined enough palate.Fourth, poor alignment. When you have the grinder set for a fine turkish to bottom of the espresso range you will hear the burrs rubbing at only one part of the lower's rotation. Now this here might be related to my copy, and not representative of all... but as I experienced with the ROK grinder, this could actually be "baked in" to the mold and plague them all. Guess you'll find out when you order yours, it's almost irresistible not to at this price point despite the negs, especially if you're into drips and pour-overs more than espresso :p May the force be with!
