Why Can't You Behave?: The Teacher's Guide to Creative Classroom Management, K-3 1st Edition

This book provides clear, easy to read information about classroom management techniques that work for the author, who teaches in a public school in NYC. She has a child centered approach to creating curriculum, which in turn seems to manage the classroom on it's own because the children are so involved. There is very helpful information about parent involvement and building community, and also language to use with children. I found this book helpful as a new teacher who has had difficulty managing a classroom in an urban setting. It's a small book, an easy read, author is funny and insightful, and very experienced. Has been teaching for years and years and is extremely passionate about it. Author very friendly and even invites people to observe her classroom management techniques in her class. Do not expect to sit back and watch, though, you will be fully involved and will be participating with the class and interacting. That is a huge part of her approach!
