Great piece of kit!
I use power line adaptors throughout my house and needed a multi ethernet solution so that I could hook up my media centre. I needed to connect my PS3, Apple TV and Smart TV and was sick of constantly unplugging one for the other. I wanted to connect via ethernet so that I could take full advantage of my internet for streaming high definition content and also cut down on the time streaming Plex from my PC to my PS3. The only real solutions that were available were to upgrade my power line adaptors to multi output ones, but given the cost it was not really feasible! Luckily enough I stumbled upon this! Such a simple and easy solution, just plug in the power, connect the ethernet cables and thats it.Pros:Superb solution, plug and forget.Stylish design, does fit in quite nicely with the theme of my most media centres, although I ended up tucking it away out of sight.Low power so quite energy efficient.Gigabit speeds for local transfers! Full HD (20GB+) videos start pretty much instantly without buffering. You can even skip through and not have to wait! You get full advantage of your internet package, Netflix loads in full HD with no buffering or waiting.Cons:One port is for ethernet in, so you only get four ethernet outs.Needs mains power, so will rob you of another mains port.If you use more than one device connected for heavy transfer you will see a slow down on the other ports.Quite large compared to other alternatives.Overall:The pros definitely outweigh the cons here, its a rare moment with technology when you just plug things in and thats that! I'd definitely recommend this product for anyone who needs more than one ethernet cable and does not wish to run multiple cables from their router.

Bargin price for an excellent product
This is such a good product, easy to use and works straight out of the box.---- Positives ----- Easy to setup and use, just plug in power and ethernet cables, no technical knowledge required- Bargin, great product for the price- Once installed no need to touch it again, maintenance free- Size of the product is slightly smaller than I was expecting which is great when space is an issue- It just works---- Negatives ----- It does feel a little cheap when you hold it, but what do you expect for the price? Not really a negativeI'm always impressed with TP-Link products, good value for money in my opinion.

First choice for a second buy
This will be my 2nd one. First one was under £8 but everything has gone up in price since (3 years ago). The device does the job very well. Yes it is plasticy but if you don't intend to put a flower pot on top so what?We use it in a rather complicated network. Fiberoptic broadband modem router. CAT6 throughout the house using a 24 port switch etc.If one connects 2 switches to the same network (to serve different locations) it might create a bottleneck: all traffic might get routed over the slowest device. My friend, who is a licensed network designer installing networks in hospitals etc., checked things out and the TP-Link switch is not causing any trouble.Maybe it's too simple to do so or the 24-port switch costing 25 times more than this 5-port device is too smart. Anyway. It's a good device. No need to pay more. For those contemplating whether to buy a 5 or an 8 port switch: mind that you need 1 port to hook the device up to the Ethernet. So if you get a 5-port switch you will be able to attach (only) 4 devices to it. If you are very sure you won't attach at a certain location more than 4 devices then a 5-port switch is the right choice. If you buy at the same time an Ethernet cable buy one that has it's connector protected by a rubbery cap. The small plastic bit that 'locks' the cable into the Ethernet slot tends to break and then the cable will keep dropping out of your device.

no problems so very happy with that
I have had this on my network for about 1 year now and it has run well very well, no problems so very happy with that.It is not managed so you will pretty much plug in the network cables, power it on and forget about it.There is a light for power and a light for each connection, however the light is a simple green led. There is no light to indicate whether it is 100 or 1000, so if you need to know what speed you connecting at you will have to confirm this from the system. It loses the one star for lack of variable led.For the price paid it is excellent value.

Small and stable
This Gigabit switch is small and very stable. I bought it just for splitting ethernet for my laptop and printer. It works perfectly.

IT PEFORMS
This is a fantastic product from TP-Link. I mean its just hassle free device. Just plug and play and you are ready to go. I have a Smart Tv, a blu-ray player, a printer connected to it and it works flawlessly. Earlier i was using a D-Link DES-1005C 10/100 Network Switch which was not up to the mark, so i bought this one. 10/10 on performance, its a GIGABIT switch, 10/10 on how it looks (Its very sleek and elegant and its in black), its affordable. Amazon delivery was good as ever, got the product in time. Its was packed nicely in a sealed pack

Sicuramente raccomandato come acquisto.
