These rods are made out of some kind of nylon or other "plasticky" material. The connecting threaded ferrules are metal and are crimped on to the rod. This attachment method is completely unsuitable. Firstly, it is difficult to tighten the connectors. Secondly, if you manage to tighten the screw connectors and apply any rotational force (as in cleaning your chimney) the rod, being soft (nylon) material, simply spins inside the crimp - not able to take any kind of torque. Ant thirdly, it is impossible to use any kind of power rotating device to clean the chimney. An attempt to securely place the end ferrule into an electric drill is impossible, since the crimped metal is somewhat distorted, the drill chuck does not provide adequate adequate contact to maintain grip.

Don't forget you need to clean the flue.
Works great. I use it for my Cubic Mini Wood Stove. Well made at a great price.

Works great
I purchased 5 of these rods to clean out the stainless steel liner for our pellet stove. They worked great for the first 20ft but at that length I was unable to push it around the 90 degree bend. I disconnected the liner from the stove and just went the other way and was finished. I was very pleased with how quick I was able to clean out the liner. Even after buying all the rods and brush I still saved over $100 as opposed to having someone else do it. Next year it will have paid for itself. If your buying these to clean out a regular chimmney with no liner then I would recommend using the 3/8 rods. The 1/4 inch will have too much flex.

Good Product---But A Little Pricey for 1 Six Foot Piece
Good, flexible and sturdy item. However, be advised that this is only 1 6ft piece. The listing shows two pieces, but I guess that was to show the two different ends.

Caution! Wrong Image
The item that goes with the description (and what you get if you order)is a single 5' flexible rod and NOT the set that is pictured. The image shown is actually the Rutland PSR-20 20' kit (Eight 2.5' rods).Rutland Inc PSR-20 Flexible Pellet Stove Rod Kit Both of these Rutland items are cheaper at local big box hardware stores. Doing it your way
Excellent firmness with the required flexibility. I have had others that were too flexible and thus could not perform as expected. This product was well thought out.

perfect second cleanout rod
I have a Meeco rod that is a bit stiffer and it works great for straight runs but this rod is perfect for going through 90's. I use it to go through the two outside my basement and then followup from inside with the stiffer rod. Works great for me.

Make sure you read the reviews. I thought as everyone else, that you get two 5 ft rods. Way to much money for what you get and mine was bent in half in shipping. BIG ripoff

Flexibility Leads to Weakness
I needed flexible so I got these only to discover on their first use that flexible equals weakness.Do not use with a drill! On their first use they were rendered useless.I had seen my chimney specialist use his drill on the job so decided to buy my own set and save money - what a great idea, right?First the threading tips ripped off several of the rods, then one of the rods that was at the bend in my pipes snapped.Ouch! One use wonders. So, what brand did my chimney guys use that was both flexible and strong, I don't know, but I'm going to buy my next set from him.
