Only downside over the old version is not quick release! But works great with the bmpcc6k pro smallrig cage.

I bought this for my GH5 rig to allow easy fixing of a follow focus wheel with different lenses. It works like a charm but - and it's a deal breaker but - it's no use for the GH5 as it's impossible to change the battery with the plate fitted. As with most Smallrig kit it's well made, sturdy and very good value for money. The rod clamps run the full length of the plate on each side ensuring they are clamped securely, and there's plenty mounting options for both camera and tripod plate mounting. The plate would work well for the BMPCC or 6K (which I think it's designed for however it does say 'universal') with the battery compartment away out to the side, but unfortunately I had to return mine. The Smallrig 1674 rod mounting plate works great with the GH5, the battery cover rubs a bit against the right rod but it opens fully. Note that unless you use a spacer between the camera and the plate you'll not be able to use rod attachments such as lens supports or matte boxes as there is very little clearance between the rods and the lens. Great for a follow focus or a battery mount at the rear though.

I wanted a base plate that wasn’t too large and not too small. This is just the right size for my rig and works great.
