Wasn't sure based on the mixed reviews but having now used it I'm definitely not disappointed. The mat has been used under a fire pit that doubles as a bbq and stands about 1ft above the ground. I bought the mat after scortching and killing my grass, but having used the mat with the firepit under exactly the same conditions several times now, having removed the mat post bbq the grass is still in perfect condition. I see no reason the same results would be had if used on decking but I've not tried this.

Have used this user my fire pit on my lawn and the grass showed no sign of heat damage.

Does the job well. A tad pricey but kept the grass at the campsite burn free!
