Q: Does anybody use this on s sliding door? If so, on the edge or the face of the door?

Not sure, I used it to good effect on a trapdoor

It has to be inset. From memory, it will be about 3mm. One other thing. It’s possible to cut a finger when pulling on the loop. Check and file off any sharp edges on the underside of the loop.

Q: is this any good for a pocket door side edge incase door gets lost in the pocket?

I do not know what a pocket door side edge is -all I can tell you is that I fitted it to a trapdoor and it is still working fine so no quality issues as far as I know .

I have not used this on a door but on a hatch , if you want a handle for the edge of a door ie on a pocket door there are handles on the market for this purpose
