Used and abused and works like a charm - if you need it, you need it. Works great for all my power saws, no mater what the bar length - from arbor saws to the big 660 Pros, this thing just works - brain dead simple but a nice 'in-the-field' tool.

Simple item yet provides great, easy process when sharpening chain saws. Cheap for what it provides. I keep one in my toolbox.

This is a super simple tool that works really well. Must have tool for the saw bag, for working away from the truck tailgate for sharpening needs. Has been taking a pounding and holding up. Stays in the log and prys out easy enough when needed.

There is nothing worse than finding yourself with a dull sawblade in the middle of the woods, with no way to sharpen it. This little unit solves that problem. It allows you to pound it into a tree stump or log, attach your saw to it, and start sharpening. This will always stay in the milk crate that I use to put all my chainsaw stuff in.

Got this so I can sharpen the chainsaw chain in-the-field, for faster cuts. It’s awkward to use. I use it, but it could be better. Firstly, driving it into a log is not great. The prongs in the bottom are wide, so you really have to drive it in there or it will just slip out. Could have made them thinner, or serrated to hold better. Also, this works best with a hammer or sledge. Too heavy to carry in my amateur kit. I use a crowbar. I’m not dragging a 5# sledge around just to drive this in. Secondly, the screw to hold the bar is small. My gloved hand has trouble working it. I have to take my gloves off. So that slows me down. If it were a big T handle, that would work better. Thirdly, this is designed to work on a cut log round. That’s like 1 foot off the ground. Nothing like working at a bench top vice at counter height. You are bent over in a forrest. It’s kind of awkward and exhausting. I use it, but it tires me out and I don’t get a good edge. I probably would have better luck with a small vise and some lag screws and a childless drill to set it up on a fallen tree at bench height. But it’s good to have in the bag. “In case…”

This is a reasonably cheap chainsaw bar vice that works. I drilled a couple of slightly smaller holes that the base of the vice spikes and tapped it in, works like a charm!
