Product Description SpongeBob SquarePants takes leave from the town of Bikini Bottom in order to track down King Neptune's stolen crown. .co.uk Review How many movies offer the rare spectacle of a parasailing pink starfish flying over a crowd with a congratulatory pennant clenched between his buttcheeks? And that's only the tip of the iceberg--The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie is a freewheeling goof of a cartoon, full of surreal twists as its diminutive heroes head down a dangerous road to rescue the lost crown of King Neptune. SpongeBob (voiced by Tom Kenny), an arrested adolescent in the mold of Pee-wee Herman, works at a fast-food restaurant that serves something called Krabby Patties (as the restaurant owner is himself a crab, it's not clear what exactly they're made of). His best friend Patrick Starfish (Bill Fagerbakke) lives under a rock and has an IQ in the lower digits. Still, their friendship carries them through many a tight spot as they strive for manliness. Anyone seeking a coherent world will be disappointed; in this undersea adventure, things catch on fire or seem to be surrounded by air whenever it's convenient for a gag. The jokes are often more silly than actually funny, but there's an undeniably energetic joviality to the proceedings. Featuring the voices of Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Tambor, Alec Baldwin, and a fully fleshed appearance by David Hasselhoff. --Bret Fetzer, .com

Now This Is Not The Type Of Movie For My Age Group But.....
At 20 years old this is undoubtedly the funniest movie i have seen in a long time and this is a movie solely aimed at kids. This movie from start to finish is just plain silliness and reading other reviews had me laughing as i reminissed about this movie.I am not going to go into the actual plot but i would seriously recommend this movie because if you have even a smidgen of a sense of humour you will love this movie.Spongebob Squarepants = The most succesful childs cartoon charater ever and it has only been around for a few years. The characters are original and the jokes although sometimes silly they are sometimes very witty also there are at times a little sly adult humour in there too.Buy It, Rent It and don't return it or steal it off a friend either way you must own this movie it will be the best DVD purchase you will ever make.

Absorbent and yellow and porous and really rather good
I shan't go into the detail but suffice to say I'll second all the reviews noting just how funny this movie is. It was the first film my daughter (5) saw at the cinema - and loved every minute. A nice alternative to the increasingly tedious post-modern irony or nudgenudge winkwink so often trotted out now in an attempt to make a show 'cool' or adult-friendly (yawn). Spongebob proves that good writing and just plain daftness will always win the day - lines like: "But Spongebob, you don't have a licence - You don't need a licence to drive a sandwich Patrick" and "Let's party til we're purple - Oooh, I love being purple!" (combined with a surf ride on David Hasselhoff's back) pretty much say it all.Oh, except to enlighten a previous reviewer who thought it odd that Squidward had only six legs. Well, that'll be because he's a squid, not an octopus. The clue is in his name...

Perfect!
Found this on amazon when i was browsing around for affordable christmas presents. I came across this DVD for my younger sister who is a big fan of Spongebob and his pals in Bikini Bottom. She was over the moon when she opened her present on xmas day and saw Spongebob's bright yellow face, and enjoyed the movie alot! She laughed through out most of the film and was happy to see most of her favourite characters including Squidward and Patrick also in the movie! Great price and Great film!

Goofy Goobers!
Typical Spongebob!! Not really the most meaningful movie ever made but there are scenes where it is just flat out funny! You know it's dumb but you laugh out loud, and to me that's the purpose of watching these movies!!! There are even some bits where I kept rewinding scenes and laughing over and over again.I love the scene where Spongebob barges into the Krusty Crabs supposedly drunk from ice cream and starts mouthing off... I laughed my lungs out!A great movie if you just want to sit back and switch your brain off after a hard day's work, just unwind, and laugh or have a bit of nonsense with the kids!! However, I do feel it's a bit short for my taste... the plot is a bit shallow and there isn't really that much to the story. Some of the episodes from the series have more complexity to them and as a movie it can be a bit disappointing especially if you watch it more than a couple of times..All in all a good laugh, great to watch with the kids... (even though I worry that the stupidity in these movies could be turning the brains of our children into mush).

I'm an adult and this film made me laugh like a kid on E-numbers in a ball pit.
This film is a nice addition to the 6 series I think that are already out in circulation. It never ceases to amaze me how accessible Spongebob is to bothe adults and children. It beats the hell out of mind numbing tellytubbies or In The Night Garden. The film has lots of wicked little celebrity cameos from Scarlett Johannson to Alec Balwin and more. Total fun for all. Well worth the purchase if you've got a spare few quid.
