Firepit 101
First off this is a gorgeous firepit. The unique shape and screen top is perfect for a smaller space or smaller group. Even when not in use it is very pleasant to see in the back yard. I had never had a firepit and had to look up all the details on how to safely use it. Here goes: please follow all the fire codes in your area for proper placement. Catching your house on fire would completely ruin an otherwise great evening. Get a good brand name fire mat to protect your deck or yard. After pouring over dismal reviews I went to our local hardware store and picked one up. It wasn't cheap. It is a woven material designed to catch sparks and cinders. It is not a vinyl mat and has no favorite team name on. It is very utilitarian and functional. Pick this out with care. It will protect your expensive deck. Lava rocks. Who knew? I purchased about 20 pounds of small to medium lava rock which created about a two inch deep barrier between the bowl and the fire. The rock protects the firepit and helps disperse the heat. Apparently they will explode if you get the hot rocks wet so do not put your fire out with water. I did not test this information and I would recommend no one else does. Can we say party over? We let our small fire burn itself out. Get a cover for protecting your firepit from the elements unless you can store it. Why get your lava rocks all soggy and messy when an inexpensive cover will make your life so much easier? Amazon has dozens of round covers from which to choose, so make it happen. We love our firepit. We have figured out how much wood to put in for the amount of time we want it to burn. No issues. No rust. You do have to remove the screen for toasting marshmallows or whatever. The pedestal base does not get hot to the touch. This is a great piece at a good price point. I am a novice user so if an expert has additional tips, they would be welcomed!

So far so good
oVery nice-looking fire pit! Its somewhat hidden depth holds more combustable materials than it appears. We sprayed it with a like colored Rust-Oleum immediately upon using it because heavy rain was expected and the reviews seemed nearly unanimous that it rusts very quickly. I finally found a hexagon fire pit cover on Amazon just a few days ago, so now we can stop covering it with a deflated raft when not in use to protect it and it had its first night with a proper cover last night, where it seems to be doing very well. (For anyone interested, the one single hexagon fire pit cover I was able to find (maybe I just missed others, but I *looked* hard) was available in sizes considerably larger than this small hexagon pit (I believe it's 24" or so, because I forgot to select a larger size during ordering, heh) The smallest hexagon cover available was I think 31" or close to that, so I just defaulted to the smallest one, knowing it would be "baggy" on my fire pit. And it is, but in a way that I find a lot easier to deal with. I don't have to stuff this thing into a cover sized and shaped exactly like it, which would be a rough time I imagine. Instead our cover just easily goes over it and rests in sort of the perfect position touching the ground but not puddling there. So far, the fire pit is going beautifully and we're getting a lot of use out of it in these early warm spring days, and there looks to be plenty of chilly spring nights coming ahead for us to gathering around our fire and socialize with our neighbors, watch our son blow bubbles and run squealing around the yard and attempt to track Jupiter down in the sky as soon as the Sun sets. Feels like a great start to a jovial summer to me!

Smaller than expected but ended up being perfect size
Bought this to use while my yard/lawn was getting re-done. Intended to use on the driveway for a cleaner set up and area. Very happy with how easy to assemble and use of product. Rusted very quickly. Left out overnight to cool off and morning dew/drizzle made the top lid rust very fast. Truly is not an issue since it will be burned off anyway or will be used enough to not matter. I anticipate a couple years of use but for the money it was worth it for me. All tools included and assembly took only about 10 minutes. Very easy to move and was perfect for what I needed.

good for the patio
been using this for just over a couple of weeks, and it's performed well. good price, easy to assemble. I like the mesh enclosure to keep ash from flying around.

Easy to put together and looks great
Looks great on my little back yard set up...worked fine for regular sized logs. I do see a couple spot of rust already only had it for a few months but so hasn't every other fire pit I've ever owned so it was expected I would recommend

On first use it works very well. Good for in the city or a small backyard. Will take other reviews in to account and cover/paint over time if it gets rusty but worth it for the price.

Looks great and went together perfectly. A few reviews I read before purchasing said the holes didn't line up to pass the bolts through for assembly but if you rotate the fire box and base section it will come together; it took a couple rotations before all the holes lined up perfectly. I painted it with rust paint before assembly and it's been outside in the weather, looks great! Unfortunately I have not been able to enjoy a fire in it yet as Nova Scotia has been under a fire ban for most of the summer.

This fire pit looks fantastic and works just as expected. The hexagonal design with mesh sides lets the flames and embers show through beautifully while also helping airflow — the fire catches easily and burns strong. It’s a compact size (24”), so it’s perfect for smaller patios or backyards. We usually gather 4–5 people around it comfortably. Setup was straightforward, and it feels fairly sturdy for the price. That said, the metal is on the thinner side, so I wouldn’t expect it to last forever if left outside in the rain. We plan to cover it when not in use to help it last longer. Overall, it’s a stylish, affordable way to enjoy real wood fires at home. Great for marshmallows, small gatherings, or just relaxing by the flames at night.

I read many comments and reviews about this type of firepits regarding rusting. So, before use I sprayed the fire pit with heat proof, rust preventing paint. The body of the fire pit is still fine after almost a year of use but the top rusted anyway. I guess it gets hotter than the bottom part. It still looks fairly well though and works fine.
