What a series, what a price !
As an introduction to the Walking Dead universe this box set of the first four seasons is value for money, and even if you find it a tad repetitive (I don't as I have all eleven seasons) you can drop it after the opening season and it wouldn't have cost you the earth.I think that the opening six episode season delivers enough for anyone looking for thrilling action and bags of tension, before it hits its stride as a total zombie animal where you feel you can leave it alone because its too gory and/or repetitive. But then you'd miss out on the characterization of the main players, new and old, and the new safe havens to be found, such as abandoned prisons, housing estates, walled towns.English subtitles with the series.

BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!
WHY HAD I NOT SEEN THIS BEFORE?! When everyone was raving about it I just thought it would be some generic zombie series with minimal effort and just the same old same old...HOW WRONG COULD I HAVE BEEN?! I prefer TV series with big budgets to films at the moment and this is one of the best series I have seen. Brilliant story line and the character development is one of the best I have experienced. Easily up there with the likes of Breaking Bad, Spartacus, Game of Thrones and Arrow. The first series (I think) was used as a pilot (only 6/7 episodes) to see what the reception would be like and as a result the subsequent series got more money, more action, more story, more twists and more zombies!!!Some may say 'I don't like horror or zombie films' well this is not your generic horror/scare fest. You do not always need a cushion to hide behind and the 18 certificates, in my opinion, are for the gore, zombie eating, shots and stabs to the head that happens as opposed to the horror aspect - yes, there are times you will jump but do not let that put you off. With regards to the comments on here about the 'cut' I have no idea what they are talking about and cannot comment as I have only seen this box set and can honestly say it is fantastic. Cannot wait for series 5 to come out and find out what happens!!!!! :O!!

I would highly recommend watching a few episodes in one sitting because the ...
As an avid fan of films such as Night, Dawn and Day of the Living Dead I was especially looking forward to the start of the The Walking Dead way back in 2010. In fact I ended up purchasing a large portion of the comics in order to familiarise myself with the source material and I was gripped. The TV series itself im this reviews opinion surpasses the source material because it is able to give more depth to the characters who at times were lost in the mix during the short story arcs of the comics. I would highly recommend watching a few episodes in one sitting because the way the story is written you have a good mixture of slow episodes and action packed episodes that when watched one at a time can be either "too slow" or "too frantic"The DVDs themselves offer a good collection of commentaries and enough additional content to keep you entertained until the next series starts. I enjoyed the deleted scenes but can see why some of them were cut, but it is nice to have addition Walking Dead content.

Excellent
This series is something special! A friend recommended it to me, and I'm completely hooked. I won't repeat details of the plot or premise, but suffice to say this is very entertaining (in a quite nasty way!), occasionally very tense and a little scary in places. What makes it work is the characters who are all interesting and the interaction between them. On a few occasions I have thought that it gets a bit like a soap opera, but the nature of the extraordinary circumstances they are trying to survive in, and the stress they would be under (impossible to imagine) mostly make it very believable. It is well written, filmed and acted. The best moment so far for me is the beginning of season 2, which is as tense a piece of TV/film I have seen for a long time. I've had the set for about 10 days now, and am already into season 3. I only bought 1-4 rather than 1-5 because at the time I purchased it, it was 1/2 the price. This is up there with Game of Thrones; in fact it might well be better.....

Very Good
As you may have heard, this is a great series. Perfect to watch over the course of a few weeks, I was doing 5hr sessions a day, it`s so good when one series ends and you can get up and put another disc in, no waiting. That being said, with the level of realism in each episode, sometimes it was like watching stupid people doing stupid things, sometimes you are really hoping a character becomes zombie food because they annoy you so much! "Arghhhhhh" another interesting aspect is the rhythm of life falling apart most people have one: go to work, pay the bills, meet family & friends etc, suddenly no police, technology. Having to secure a place to sleep. I study bible prophecy there have been two accounts of a zombie plague giving to a seer (Prophet) in dreams/visions.In one a person saw them roaming the streets, he said people had to leave the streets at 4 pm because they were eating people, this he said occurs in what is known in the bible as The Great Tribulation, many people may laugh at this but just Google 'CDC Zombie'. So my review has a different angle on the Walking Dead, so my thoughts of buying this great series were also like - what does the world look like? Did you know that World Governments and the Global Elite are testing strains of pathogens as WMD? And that the ideal world population would be around 500 million people (current world population is 7 billion) Another thing which is mentioned in Zombieland is cardio and you see this being played out in the WD.If you`re into survivalist films then you may really like this. I have to admit I`m not a massive zombie fan (Vampires), although I did like World War Z and Zombieland, but more for their collapse in society end of civilisation themes. Enjoy and keep a pillow handy.
