Good controllers for stepper motors. Not a direct drop in upgrade for the old A4988, but orders of magnitude more capable and easy enough to drive with an ESP32.

Im sure they work very well but not for my required project. I bought these prematurely to run some stepper motors for a cnc type diy machine but ran in to a hiccup where they dont have a dedicated diag pin so be aware before purchasing these if you require a diag pin. Have bought bigtreetech ones instead which do have the pin

works very smooth quite, but be aware these are stealth mode , not true micro stepping as i know it, also could not get coms to work correctly, gave up.

Questo driver vale quello che paghi, muove un NEMA 17 in totale silenzio, non necessita di Jump per i micro step, e la figata pazzesca è che la corrente si può regolare da microcontrollore, senza girare nessuna vite.

Ich habe im Juli2025 2 Stück gekauft, die beide auf Anhieb gut funktioniert haben. Erste Tests mit einem Arduino Uno im Legacy Mode (unidirektional) des TMC2209 waren schnell erfolgreich. Ich steuere sie jetzt jeweils mit einem Arduino "Nano_every" an, um mit der zweiten UART-Schnittstelle des "every" eine bidirektionale Kommunikation zu haben. Als Treiber empfehle ich "TMC2209" von Peter Polidoro aus dem Library Manager der Arduino IDE. Heute habe ich nun 5 weitere Exemplare bestellt.

Fonctionne, par contre il n’est pas smooth 😅 L’axe sur lequel je l’ai installé est bien plus bruyant qu’avec l’ancien driver. Ça dépanne mais on est loin du TMC2209 d’origine.
