not just bottles!
I wanted to transform a candle holder I bought in Morocco (made of old olive oil tins) into a lamp for a while but never really found the right product to do this as everything I found had the wire come out of the bottom and this had no whole for the wire to go. Found this product last week on amazon and thought I would risk it given it should fit in wine bottles etc (and a candle would fit in a wine bottle so it should fit in my metal square candle holder) and the price was so cheap so I bought it. Arrived home yesterday to find it waiting after very quick delivery and it slotted straight in and works a charm!! The only downside is the switch would be more useful if it were on the wire cable instead of where it is but this is really minor. I am going to be careful given I am putting it in something metal and have a low watt bulb in it so it doesn't get too hot! This product is perfect for transforming all kinds of things into lamps and it all happens in a matter of seconds! Just think if a standard stick candle fits in the hole/gap this product will too!

Easy to use lamp conversion kit
I bought the kit to convert a gin bottle that I didn't want to recycle, into a lamp. It's great value for money and very easy to fit for non-DIY minded people. The lead doesn't feed through the bottle, so no scary drilling through glass required and is reasonably long to reach a wall socket. The negatives:- Firstly, the holder is quite long, which means the shade sits high and the the lamp is tall and a little unstable. Secondly, it's a little tricky to align the screw on the shade holder. Once its done it's done though.

Love that you don’t have to drill the glass
Used in an old champagne bottle with a pretty lamp shade to make a very attractive table light. I’m so pleased with it and it works perfectly. I am not crafty at all so the thought of having to drill a hole in the bottle for the cable was terrifying. This worked perfectly for me and I have already bought another. Would definitely recommend

Get what you pay for.
Being plastic, I thought these might be a safer alternative to the traditional metal fittings. Additionally, I wanted something that was easy to install. These seemed to offer the solution. Sadly, they very cheaply made. The cable suddenly pops from the lower side of the fitting rather than from the bottom, so you have cable draping down the lamp base, rather than being inside the base and then making the exit from the lamp base. Looks messy. The second part was why I bought these. The brief says to insert the fitting into the top of a bottle or similar hole of correct size.I carefully drilled a 23 mm hole in the top of my base. Then gently pushed the fitting in. the lamp fitting has fins that are supposed to flex and make it a snug fit. Sadly they don't, on both fittings the fins snapped off in places, making the fitting loose and sloppy. To get round the problem, I removed the remainder of the fins and found a suitable shape to cap the top of the base. Then glued the fitting and cap to my base. It feels very secure and looks good. However, if you haven't any D.I.Y. skills, you may well just throw these fittings away and find an alternative, such as a type with a cork or rubber bung fitting, rather than this fin type. . Would I recommend this fitting? No I wouldn't. They do look good in the picture, but the fittings are made from the wrong material. I would have thought a more flexible plastic for the fins would have been used and the manufacturer will change this at some point. They will do for now, but I've since found another stronger fitting, so will change these over as soon as I get delivery.
