Does it remove silicone from shower unit

It does remove it... however it comes at a cost. The residue from the WD40 reacts with the new sealant, and causes it to peel off after a couple weeks or so. Best bet is to use PVC frame sealant

Do all the smart straws systems continue to spray for a second of two after release of button - increasing usage - or have I got a faulty one

I must have been extremely unlucky because I have had three cans which all have this problem. The first one I thought was just unfortunate and bought two more in a special offer and they both do it. It is impossible to give a sensible quick half second squirt as it carries on spraying for between two and three seconds afterwards. Not so smart, and very wasteful I find that using the hand spray refilled from a 5l bottle is far more easy to control than any can and has probably paid for itself in reduced wastage. I won't be buying another can of WD-40 with any kind of straw.

I have some rust round the fixing on the grab handle in my shower. Will this product remove it?

I think this product is not right for it. But it can help slow the progression of rust. Ideally is paint with anti-rust paint.
