Solgar L-Lysine 1000 mg Tablets - Pack of 50 - Support for an Active Lifestyle - Vegan and Gluten Free

A very potent brand indeed; and I absolutely LOVE the glass bottle packaging. Since taking L-Lysine (which has only been a week lol) I can honestly say that I have noticed that my terrible stomach cramps have subsided tremendously. I use to have a horrible tightness in my stomach hours after I ate, and at night I HAD TO religiously drink a hot tea before bed to avoid feeling tight chested and cramping throughout the night. I'm sooooo happy to say that since taking these tablets I have not had ONE uncomfortable digestive feeling AT ALL - its as if me IBS has totally disappeared. I can't remember the last time my digestive system felt this calm, normal and full of health. Thank you soooo much Solgar for this brand of L-Lysine, I will defo be ordering a BIGGER bottle the next time. This is for me is now too good an amino (and brand) to live without. It's absolutely brilliant. I have also ordered (after discovering how amaaaazing this amino product is) a bottle of 'essential amino 75' by Solgar. It has all the essential amino's that the body needs, but cannot make itself. They contains 75mg each of L-Lysine (my favourite), L-Leucine, L-Phenylalanine, L-Valine, L-Methionine, L-Histidine, L-Isoleucine and L-Threonine. I'm not sure what physical, mental or emotional differences I may find by taking this product, but I am looking forward to finding out. P.S - I have also noticed that since taking L-Lysine that my mood IS more steady, I feel a lot more clear headed and much lighter on my feet. Something tells me I must have been TOTALLY deficient in L-Lysine. If taking my amino 75 adds to this health an clarity I will have truly found my two sets of life long pills (as I will always now buy myself a bottle of Solgar L-Lysine). I still can't believe that my search for better health could now be all over. P.P.S - the way I take my amino pill(s) is at night before I go to bed on an empty stomach. I make sure I wait at least 1 to 2 hours after eating before taking, then wash it down with filtered water or green drink. I hope everyone has as great a result as I have had, and from what I have read in previous comments. I only wish I could have given this product a thousand more stars.

this is an amazing product, from someone who suffered/suffers from weird cold sore type lesions on my mouth, this literally took away all source of pain. It all started in the summer of 2005/6? when in the UK we all had that crazy summer. As an Indian girl i lapped up the attention the sun was giving me, I loved every minute, and then all of a sudden i started getting tingling sensations that worsened as the summer went on. I was struck with intestinal fear as the cold sores on my face soon started to expand and become worse. Nothing could take away the scrutinising anguish I felt when the sun use to come out and i would have to hide away. All the usual commercial products weren't cutting it for me, they were making it worse. Those things don't contain true healing ingredients anyway.. so i did my research, changed my diet and found a lessening of the symptoms, but no true eradication.. anyway, back in 2013! I was going to India with my partner and mother, and low and behold, the fear came back! 2013 brought back the cold sore symptoms that the previous year’s hadn't seen for a while, although not as bad as 2005/6!.. I then found the Solgar L-Lysine product. When i purchased it I had only a few days left to receive it before I went off to my hols and I was so anxious to get it on time, and it finally arrived to such great relief. Well i never had used a product that had taken away such a tangible symptom before so rapidly. I truly rate this product, and it has made me research into l-lysine furthermore and what my body particularly needs it. I enjoyed the summer of 2013, in the 40 degrees hot Indian summer, there was no cold sore to be seen. It is my new deity!

Good quality product from a reputable brand. Take it every day so a regular purchase. Big tablets but easy to swallow and have tangible benefits from taking it regularly.

EDIT: Okay, I've had my first 'proper' coldsore outbreak (see below) since taking these, and it was a bit of a doozy. Before my coldsores appear I have a gland under my chin that swells up. So when this happened I increased my dose of lysine to three a day. Undeterred, the coldsore duly arrived on my lip (and my neck - I managed to spread them around a few years ago when shaving and they always reappear there now). This was all pretty annoying because I was due to go on holiday in a week, so I continued with the high dose and the sores had just about disappeared by the time I got on the plane. Naturally, I also reverted to the usual creams and 'invisible' patches in an attempt to beat the sore on my lip. So, in summary, I don't think you can expect this to prevent an outbreak but it does seem to speed up the recovery process. I'll continue to take it but I've knocked off a star because I was hoping for better results. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've been taking these for almost three months now, in the form of one in the morning, just after I wake up - and last week I had my first coldsore outbreak since starting the Lysine. Except... it didn't develop into a full-on coldsore. I got the usual numbness around my lower lip and looked in the mirror to see a redness - a sure sign that a coldsore is on the way. So I upped by dose to two pills a day, the other pill being taken before dinner that evening. I also smeared some Lysine lip balm from Holland & Barrett over the affected area (although I've used this previously with limited results). The next morning the 'cold sore' had developed a couple of the typical tiny raised bumps that usually go on to rupture - but that's as far as it got. Over the next few days (still on two or three pills a day) everything gradually faded. No unsightliness, no bleeding, no scabs, no embarrassment and no feeling low and not wanting to leave the house. This has NEVER happened to me in the 20 or 30 years I've been suffering with coldsores. I've tried all sorts of so-called miracles over the years, even spending £40 or so on a light treatment thingy from Boots (which failed to do the trick). These Solgar L-Lysine tablets WORK. Trust me, you won't regret buying them.

You can always rely on Sokgar to put a minimum of crap in their products! I have a metabolic disease and developed multiple allergies. I can rarely take medications which nearly always have sulfites, sulfate, corn or lactose in. Then there are all the chemicals they add as preservatives, e numbers to colour the shells, coatings, anti-caking agents and so on. I search many products but have come to look first at Solgar as I know the rubbish won't be put in. Too early to tell if the supplement is working for sure but I have multiple products from them and have always found good quality and good prices too. I think this company is a real force for good and I would have died without their products as I fight to recover from hypoproteinemic issues (extremely low protein). I'm basically dying of malnutrition cos I can't metabolise stuff. But Solgar has given me ways to replace these key nutrients, vitamins, minerals, proteins etc, without consuming stuff that would harm me
