Wheatgrass juice is superjuice.
I love that book a lot. As I was young, I ate moderate, like most people are eating. We have organic cooked food meat and also organic baked bread. But in our society, people eat what they like, what tastes best and is affordibale, but no one really knows what is really healthy. There is also a lot of false information out there, because the industry wants to earn billions of money and they use the complexity of food toconfuse the people. Then they say, we have to put much sugar into cereals, because people buy it. But there are only a few good nutrition experts out there to help us to swim against the medioc main stream of nutrition. Highly processed food pasteurized and cooked food is dead food.I created a bad eating habbit, because I wanted to reward myself with sweets. It is kind of interesting, sugar - sweets can be a dangerous substitude for love and acceptance. What I found out, that white refined sugar is dangerous in big quantities, because it eats up the minerals in the body and causes hair and bone loss. It also is acidic and that causes the body to use up the few minerals in the blood to keep the right ph in the blood. If the body has a lack of minerals, because of poor nutrition, than it has to take the minerals of the hair. The hair gets thinner and falls out over the period of years. As I improved my diet with fresh made vegetable juices and sprouts my hair became stronger and thicker. Also I cut short the bad sweets like cookies , cakes, chocolate, ice cream...That is why I love books like the hippocraties diet, because they give us precious informations, how to feed our bodies healthy. The only thing which is not up to date are the old models of juicers. Back 50 years ago the champion juicer was the top of the line, today it is the Omega VSJ 843 430$, or the angel juicer 959$.First I believed healthy food tastes no good. But that is wrong. There are many thousands of recipies out there, which taste great, you only have to check them out. The tastebuts change after they get used to certain foods. I will grow wheatgrass myself and do sprouting, because this is the best way to have high quality food for maximum life and fun.Your Veit Ullrich

poison conspiracy
Discovering the basic information in Wigmore's could easily prompt one to feel there is a poison conspiracy within the health system, at least in the U.S. We constantly hear about new "life saving vaccines" for everything from measles to the swine flu, from cancer to aids and yet it's never made clear that these "medical wonders" actually do NOTHING to their targeted ailments. Their ONLY purpose is to "prompt" our bodies to protect us from them. In other words for our bodies to naturally provide a defense or cure for the disease or ailment. Wigmore accurately points out that this natural ability to maintain good health is something we have within our bodies, evolved over millions of years of surviving in the midst of all the maladies our world has produced. Why are we suffering from the myriad of health challenges we suddenly find in our world? We have to look no further than what we are putting in our mouths. While what we are doing to our planet in terms of pollution etc. has an effect on our health she accurately points out that it is our cooked, over processed food that is turning off our natural healing power. This of course produces enormous profit for our "for profit" health system. While I do not subscribe to a conspiracy I think Wigmore gives us the essence of what we need for optimum health. It's enzymes.

Fantastic book
So easy to read, so informative. It is an eye opener if you believe that food is meant to preserve your health not only to reward your palate. To follow this diet a hundred percent is very difficult, at least it has been form me, but I have increased my consumption of raw living foods to become at least 80% of my daily diet and in a very short amount of time I have seen such a big difference, and I was already on a "healthy" vegetarian diet. My mood, energy levels, sleep time have all improved in an unexpected manner. It is unbelievable that this knowledge has been around for so long and is so little known. Specially these days with so many nutrition related diseases.threatening our health and our pockets.

Good solid prgram
Wigmore presents a sound argument for eating raw. Not sure though whether some of the assumptions about raw are accurate as studies have shown that the digestive juices and digestive process cancel out some of the benefits that Wigmore claims. To eat the way that she suggests would require an investment of money in equipment but more importantly a substantial investment of time to grow sprouts, wheatgrass etc unless sprouts are generally available year round in your region. Overall though a good approach if you are disciplined enough and have time enough to follow it

A comprehensive overview of the raw food diet.
This book gives a really good overview of most aspects that you are likely to encounter concerning a raw food diet. There are probably books that go more in depth and some which are more exiting but as a first step into the world of raw food eating this is just the right size, giving enough quality info without overwhelming or boring you.Ann Wigmore who I think was one of the modern pioneers of raw food eating gives plenty of scientific facts to back up what in our culture is a very forward thinking and alternative health approach which is particularly useful for those who have doubts about weather they really can live on raw food alone.I have read and delved into a number of different books and web sources but this has probably been the most practical and useful book and one which i will refer back to from time to time. For anyone considering a raw food diet, I have been eating raw for a few months at time of writing this and its great. I'm not fanatical about it and I still eat cooked food occasionally such as going out for dinner at restaurants or at friends houses, but generally just raw. My tastes changed to the point where the desire for junk just dropped away. It also changes your perception of life, makes you more sensitive and aware. Also, the weight just drops away but without ever becoming underweight or under nourished. Try it!

The Hippocrates Diet & Health Program
This book is the work of the late Ann Wigmore who ran a natural health clinic in the USA. It is very interesting, outlining the clinic's approach to cleansing various body organs (e.g. colon, liver, kidneys) using dirt and in particular 'wheat grass'.After reading it I purchased Ann's autobiography 'Why Suffer' which I found enthralling (though perhaps she could have chosen a better title). I was entirely satisfied with my purchases via Amazon. Thee books were in excellent condiiton. well-packaged and promptly delivered.

The book was a way ahead of its time.
Anne Wigmore was way ahead of her time. This book is a great book to read, its like reading Newton Physics. Brian Clements "Lifeforce" is the equivalent to reading string theory. They both equally have their time and place and it would be arrogant to think that one or the other does not have its place on my bookshelf.
