Talk Arabic(Book/CD Pack): The ideal Arabic course for absolute beginners

This is a really good language course. It starts with the basics and explains the subject really well, without confusing things with too much grammar, in other words it teaches you to speak the language as a native speaker would learn, through the sounds and through routine phrases. I am really enjoying learning Arabic with these materials, and use them a little every day. Excellent.

A great introduction to the basics off the language.

This is a great package; for years I have been looking for a proper Palestinian course. I remember a little from childhood, but was never properly taught. All the self-study packages I'd found since were either Egyptian or Modern Standard Arabic. The latter especially marks you out as a foreigner, since nobody uses this in real life. This wonderful book and CD set uses the Arabic that I know, and makes it really easy to build on existing knowledge. I know that others have criticised this for not using the Arabic script, but using European lettering with emphases is fine,and helps to 'stick' the words into your mind. My only criticism is that it doesn't adhere to 'Arabic chat alphabet', which is how Arabs use western keyboards to convey Arabic sounds and letters. Apart from that, though, it's great and I'd highly recommend this package.

`Talk Arabic' is a high quality product covering Levantine Arabic (spoken in Syria, Jordan, The Lebanon and Palestine). The CDs are clear, well structured and work well with the accompanying book. The book is well laid out, uses colour effectively so is visually appealing and contains exercises some written and some for use in conjunction with the CDs. If you successfully study this material you will be using Arabic to order snacks, get taxis, haggle in the Souks and lots more besides.

This is an excellent book. My aim was to learn Arabic for use on holiday and it's certainly fulfilled that purpose and helped me be confident about using the language in hotels, restaurants, shops etc. The book contains a section on Arabic script which I supplemented by using the free Tengu Go Arabic app to learn the script, which contains more script-related exercises than the book.

Very compact and practical in its appproach to colloqial Arabic!

The best book I found for beginners, not only giving you the basic phrases and conversation pieces as well as showing you how to pronounce each correctly (the CD) it also contains a few sections at the end further illuminating the language's rules and conventions. The only criticism I have is that it is slightly too short and could've been meatier overall.

Ich finde das Talk Arabic Pack klasse, Übersichtlich und so strukturiert, dass man wirklich alles schnell lernen kann. Ich habe3 extra dieses Pack gewählt, da ich Palästinisches Arabisch lernen will. Meine Palästinische freunde meinen jedoch, dass viele Sprüche die im Buch beigebracht werden, nicht korrekt sind bzw. nicht angewendet werden. Tja...nun bin ich halt ein bisschen unsicher mit was ich genau lernen soll oder nicht. Zum Glück habe ich jemand persönlich der mir hilft das "Unsinnige" rauszufiltern.

Very good for beginners and a useful addition

I ordered this book as part of a Levantine Arabic group class I am taking. The book and CD combo is excellent and provides a great supplement to enhance class learning. The exercises in the book are really practical for daily conversations. The audio features several different speakers to help get a sense of what the language sounds like in real life. It’s an excellent beginners resource for anyone looking to learn Levantine Arabic. Suitable for those who want to speak in the Syrian way like myself.
