It works really well ....
This is basically a double skinned mixing bowl. It fits both the tilt head mixer and the heavy duty mixers. The bowl is double skinned and is very heavy. I assume there's water inside the double insulated container. The instructions tell you that you should ideally freeze this bowl for 15 hours before you use it. This is sufficient to thoroughly freeze the bowl and retain that chill for some time but you do need to be quick and you do need to make sure you aren't anywhere too hot. So make sure your recipe ingredients are all ready to go, you're all plugged in and you're not doing it anywhere hot, like next to the cooker. The bowl comes supplied with a special paddle and adjustable attachment. There's lots of great ice cream recipe books on Amazon for machines and for stand mixers like this. They are all good. My favourite is Liquirice with PERNOD !!!! :) enjoy

A quality product
I'm a massive fan of KitchenAid products, this one is no exception. It's easy to use and clean, whilst giving top quality results - anyone can use this and make great ice cream. It attaches to all models of the KitchenAid Stand Mixers and is easy to assemble. The first time I used it, the drive assembly snapped part way through - no problem. A quick e-mail lead to me receiving another product the next day so I could get back to making ice cream again. If i were to be particularly critical, a bigger bowl would leave room for more ice cream - maybe I should just eat less.Nonetheless, a top quality buy.

Works just great; makes great ice-cream
Works just great; makes great ice-cream. Easy to use. Must be totally frozen before use - we just leave it 24hours in the freezer - plus ensure that your base mixture is also very cold, near frozen. Set the mixer turning (slowly) before pouring in your cold liquid, otherwise, the mixer freezes up straight away. Finally don't over-fill, just follow the instructions on quantity. Others have written about it leaking (as a fault) but we have not had that issue at all. We hand wash and don't put it in the dishwasher. If you have a Kitchen Aid mixer then this is great attachment.

Great Gadget - My Family Love It
I got one of these last summer as i had recently got my kitchen aid and was looking at ways to make the most of it, as i just seem to use it for baking - which is fine, but thought should try more things to justify the price tag. This is brilliant, my kids love it, will never buy ice cream from the shops again. It's just so easy, & in 20 minutes you've got ice cream. I haven't tried the kitchen aid recipe, comes with a recipe, as it looked just too complicated - i got the Ben & jerry recipe book, which is also brilliant & you use whip up a couple of eggs, tub of cream & some sugar and hey presto it's done. You do need a big freezer though as the bowl is quite large & needs to be frozen for a long time beforehand, i found the easiest way is to leave it in there & then you're always ready - but if i didn't have the extra freezer in the garage, this would not be possible.Only 4 stars as it is so expensive, i'm tempted to get the pasta attachment now but again its another £100 - not sure if its worth it.

More like Gelato than the shop bought versions
I was inspired to purchasing this after watching Australian TV programme Jumbo’s Just Desserts.Product arrived quicklyAll you do is get your KitchenAid out of the cupboard, clip on the white gizmo to make the icecream mixer work, look up an icecream recipe (I used Jamie Oliver’s chocolate icecream) and follow the directions.Just beware that the bowl needs to sit in your freezer drawer for 15 hours before you start, so you do need to plan ahead. Results - dreamy creamy chocolate icecream. More like Gelato than the shop bought versions, but that is because there is no air whipped into the mixture.Next step is to experiment with using coconut cream instead of standard cream to make it a healthier treat. Sorbets next - can’t wait

Never buy ice cream or sorbet again
So if your buying this you already own a kitchen aid mixer, if you already own a kitchen aid mixer your probably a bit of a foodie (why else would you spend £500 on a mixer) If you are a bit of a foodie and capable of making your own ice creams - this does the churn part superbly well- easy to set up and use - I’ve made 3 ice creams, a frozen yoghurt and 2 sorbets so far all have work out with the perfect texture (I struggled with my other churn to get sorbets right)

Bowl Leaked Blue Fluid on First Use
The box was a bit battered when it arrived and the ice cream bowl seemed scratched and dirty inside. I thought it was probably a return but was fine with that. I noticed a scratch on the outside of the bowl with some dried blue stuff around it. I gave the bowl a good clean, it seemed fine and I put it in the freezer and used it. As I was hand washing the bowl I realised it was leaking blue fluid from near the scratch and sat it on kitchen paper to dry. When I came back a few hours later it was dripping the blue liquid down the side. I wasn't impressed with the quality and won't buy another one. Returns process was very easy.

Fantastic!
Made my first batch of ice cream this morning and couldn't be happier. Looked at the cuisuinart ice cream maker which was twice the price and weighed a ton, but so glad I opted for this instead. It takes up so much less space, basically its only the bowl which is an issue and its not huge. Very simple to use and within 30 mins, my ice cream mixture had doubled in volume and really looked like the real deal! Great product
