No. Epaderm contains cetomacrogol emulsifying wax BP (contains cetostearyl alcohol and macorgol cetostearyl ether 22)

Q: can you use this on the scalp?

It is very thick and greasy, so only ok for the scalp if it is bald.

Q: Does this leave a matte or shiny finish?

My husband (85) asked me to buy some pots of Epaderm Ointment online. He seems to find it helps his dry/chafed areas of skin but can't say whether it has a matte or shiny finish.
