Fantastic Resource for dance educators
I work as a dance educator and my daughter does as well. I got this for us to use in our technique classes to further help our dancers comprehend all their anatomy and how it helps them acheive what is being asked of their bodies. This also helps further engage our dancers and gives their further confidence in comprehending their bodies. As a result we can have more meaningful dialogue, corrections and appilcations of varios movements and holds. When we speak about specific muscles that are being flexed or contracted, the dancers are more dialed in because they know exactly what we are referring to.I highly recommend this resource to all dance educators and as a great gift for a serious dancer.

Great Resource!
The Dance Anatomy Coloring Book is a great addition to the resources available for learning about the human body in movement. This book is a huge improvement from the static, “neutral” images in most anatomy books. The beautiful illustrations use dance positions to show the anatomy, making it easy for a dancer to imagine where the anatomical structures are in their bodies while dancing. Each dance position is clearly explained, including the anatomical structures and suggestions for how to effectively perform the movements. There are also “fun facts” and “spotlight” sections that describe correct alignment and kinesthetic functioning and that encourage dancers to have a positive body image based on their own unique anatomical structure. It’s an easy text to read and would pair well with other materials for a university level course. It could also be appropriate for a high school anatomy class for dancers. Most of the illustrations depict ballet, modern or jazz dance. Some breakdancing and other styles are included. The book has removable flashcards in the back to help with studying. Dancers who want to know more about how their body works would benefit from reading (and coloring) this book.
