Castle: Revised and in Full Color

A wonderful book for children and those feeling nostalgic. Now in color!

Love the illustrations and amount of information in this book. My children LOVE to read and listen to me read aloud. I don’t usually buy “picture book” anymore as my children are 11 and 8. We read 5 pages of a time from this book to let the new information sink in. I would definitely buy this book again.

I have owned the black and white version of this book since it was first released, but when i saw that a color version had been released, I felt a need to own it. The tale within the pages is told simply, but with sufficient detail and with great illustrations -- I use it frequently to explain the amount of time and labor necessary to build such an edifice in Medieval times. I've also used it to explain how such an undertaking today would be labor intensive, hazardous, and require specific skill sets.

This is a great review of the design and construction of a fictional Welsh castle. This version is an update of the original from the 1970's. I read the original version when I was a kid and it helped kindle a love of history that led to an MA in History and a law degree. I was so happy when I found this on Amazon that I ordered both versions. This version is in color and has some substantial revisions. It is meant to be a kids book and some of the illustrations reflect this fact, but it is fun and informative for all ages.

Built to last contains the same pages. Returned. If you're not interested in the Cathedral or Mosque then get this book. Even my 12 year old daughter was intrigued.

Informative book for young and old. It explains terms and techniques pertinent for many stories and movies in today's culture. Wonderful drawings. Descriptives are good also.

Excellent book, high quality printing. I read this when I was in school and bought this updated version for my son. He picked it up on Christmas morning to look at it and didn't put it down until he was done. He keeps going back to it.

The David Macaulay books are quite good, with correct information. Although aimed at young adults the information is quite good for younger children and adults. The book arrived undamaged within the specified delivery window.
