GLAZED OR UNGLAZED
I love this pot, the chicken always comes out soft and tender. A Good pot. A good buy. A must have for every kitchen!!. And its also quite a very pretty pot, with it's embossed leaf design. Very happy with the purchase, arrived earlier than expected. The only snag I have is that the description of this product does not state whether this roasting pot is glazed or unglazed. Please note that it is GLAZED. If you're undecided about a glazed clay baker versus an unglazed one, the only difference is that the unglazed one during the submersion, absorbs MORE water through its pores, which is later released in the form of steam throughout the baking process. This produces moist, tender and flavorful chicken, meat (great for less tender cuts) or fish and it also assists in the overall browning. The unglazed is best because of the super steaming quality. Use this type of pot for tougher cuts of meat, stews roasts, poultry, poaching, steaming and microwaving. Glazed clay cookers have a glaze which usually only covers the bottom cooker for easier cleaning. There are oval and rectangular bakers, pie plates and casseroles and these are useful for recipes that do not benefit from the super steaming quality. Try cooking dishes like lasagna and other pastas, casseroles and baked goods. Clay pot cooking is a technique, and a very healthy one at that. Very little, if any, oil is needed and results in lower fat content. Unless specified by the recipe, foods cooked by this method do not require added liquid and produce natural juices. Happy cooking!! Thank you. P.S.:- Will try to get hold of Amazon and ask them to please amend their product description to include that this is infact a GLAZED roasting pot. Thank you.

Best for cooking chicken
It's getting 5stars because.when cooked chicken its the nicest chicken iv ever ate..put everything into it chicken potatoes leek.al flavours mixed together way 2 nicest.. 1star also because I bought 1st one when it came it was smashed 2 bits.most likely careless handling & just threw about..amazon get 5stars to 10stars..they our amazing 2 deal with & customer service in al my experience has been absolutely fantastic excellent every time..they sent another roasting pot out no ? Asked as I sent a photo..but unfortunately the next one had a small crack in it.they give it free of charge & I used it got about 3months out of it until finally I came apart coming from oven..I'm stil waiting on another one becoming available as I never had 2 pay for it. So hopefully if they get more in & their is no cracks..these pots need probably the most gentlest handling & really took care while using them..I can't even go back 2 the way I used 2 cook a chicken

Excellent pot, roasted chicken and left it juicy
Excellent pot, roasted chicken and left it juicy. Easy to clean. Beware the lid is very concave so if you have a big chicken it will squash the breast, not a problem if you roast a medium chicken with extra thighs like we do but for the size of the pot one would expect to be able to cook a big bird in it too. Hence 4 stars instead of 5.

Kitchen Craft roasting pot.
Used it at the weekend. Their instructions say to put it in a pre-heated oven but everywhere else I've looked suggests that it goes into a cold oven and that was what I did when roasting a chicken in it. Soaked the pot as instructed for a good 15 minutes, placed a 3.5Lb chicken inside it which I had stuffed with a lemon , garlic and onion and some fresh herbs. drizzle of olive oil over the top, popped the lid on and gave it 2 hours at 175 C. Lid off for a further half hour moving the temperature up to 195 C. Great tasting chicken, moist and full of flavour. Not a gadget for the back of the cupboard will be using again definitely recommended and made me realise how much I'd missed cooking with one of the "bricks" as my old one went the way of all flesh some time ago and only just got around to replacing it.

An Excellent Addition to the Kitchen
My Mother in Law got me onto this (She does have some uses). We always used to go around the In-Laws house and have extremely tender and succulent meat cooked on the Aga. I thought it was down to her skill of many years. Truth is, it was down to her using one of these and I am now replicating this at home. This one is a good size, can do 2.5kg chicken with veg in the bottom easy, good, probably do a small turkey but haven't tried. Can also be used for curries, ragus and other such items. Will never be without one in my kitchen ever again. Pork joints, any roast meat, excellent results

Good product
I’ve been using one of these for years and have always had excellent results. It cooks beef and chicken beautifully. I bought this one for my daughter, who is equally as happy with results

Fault in the pot
Immediately spotted a fault in the pot. Having used a mason cash quality clay oven for years I know these need properly caring for. A fault like that is bound to fracture with heat so it went back immediately. The replacement seems OK but I guess we'll see. A little worried as its a Christmas gift for mam.
