45% of women carry a faulty gene called COMT that stops them from methylating oestrogen properly. This can lead to symptoms such as severe mood swings, depression and anxiety. I have this gene, and after having a total hysterectomy and my ovaries removed, I had to go on HRT as I had severe and crippling hot flushes. Unfortunately I found the HRT caused me a shedload of awful side effects. I had severe joint pain, palpitations, terrible mood swings, and horrendous anxiety. The higher the dose of HRT, the worse I felt. I tried several different types of HRT and nothing worked. I dropped down to the lowest dose (one pump of gel) and still felt awful. But then I read a book about the COMT gene, and read that glutathione can help. I knew I had the gene as I'd had my DNA tested. So I decided to try the glutathione. Simply put - the difference was incredible. Although I will never feel great on HRT, the crippling anxiety, palpitations and joint pain have all gone. In fact I started wondering whether the glutathione was actually making the difference, or if it was the placebo effect. More so when all of a sudden I started having problems again. In fact I became so unwell, I went to throw the glutathione in the bin. It was then I looked properly at the bottle and realised I had been taking the 50mg version instead of the 250mg version! So I went back to taking 250mg again, and all my awful HRT problems went away. I have since had my bloods tested and my oestradiol levels are spot on. I am on a TINY dose of HRT - one pump of oestradiol, which is equivalent to 25mg. But because I have the faulty COMT gene, my body 'builds up' oestrogen, so on a higher dose or without the glutathione, I would have TOO MUCH oestrogen. And too much oestrogen causes the same symptoms as too little. This product has genuinely been a miracle for me, and I wish more women knew about COMT and hormones and also that glutathione can help so much! I will never be without this stuff again. PS. It also stops you from getting hangovers - unexpected bonus!

Good quality supplements but i wish they would tone down the bulk, the pills are big and there's no need for such a large pill when the active compound is not even close the size of that. When taken with other supplements it would be best to have them smaller.

Glutathione is so important for the body as the master antioxidant. There are some doubts over whether glutathione can be absorbed as a supplement and that NAC might be a more effective way of boosting glutathione by supplying cysteine (precursor to glutathione). However, there are scientific studies proving that some brands of oral glutathione does indeed boost blood levels over a few months. My recent blood test showed that my glutathione levels were ok, I'm sold on this supplement. It's important to keep glutathione levels up for immune system and overall health. I started on the Solgar 50mg capsules first before moving on to this higher strength. I think it's good to start low then slowly increase, to reduce the risk of possible detox side effects. As always with Solgar, good quality and no unnecessary fillers.

Good quantity for the price although the dosage is quite low. I was not to keen on swallowing the plastic coating that surrounds the powder but it was easy to pull the pellet open and pour the powder into my drink for easier consumption.
