My grandmother always had a jar of this around, and would drink it every day.She used to cook typical 50s dishes which were higher in fat and lower in nutritional value until she discovered that the secret to good health is eating raw greens (like the garden of Eden, she likes to say!). This was part of her daily nutrition for many years, and she recently turned 100. Although age is finally catching up to her a bit, she still reportedly has a healthy heart and body, and most likely her mind will go before her body does. She isn’t on a strict diet anymore, as the Drs want her to eat whatever she wants just to keep her weight up. She loves her cookies nowadays!But I think she would love it if everyone knew how important eating greens is for the body. She loved this stuff, and she would outpace us much younger people as we raced to keep up with her at the grocery store lol. She was fast, even in her 80s and 90s. We urged her not to try to carry the watermelons around herself with her tiny frame, but man, she did what she wanted.She passed on her knowledge to me. And now i will pass it on to you. I think she would want everyone to know this: love your body and take care of it. Treat it with kindness. Eat well and get some greens!

I was very skeptical when I started using this product but I have been very pleased with the results. I feel so much better

I’ve been buying this quite a while. They changed the jar recently, and placed a note in the box, saying nothing had changed, except the jar. That is not true. The texture is not nearly as fine. If the manufacturing process had not changed, then the texture would be the same.

After turning 59 & being on a Vegan diet for 3 months, I began to have symptoms of Gout in my right big toe. This was perplexing to me as the major cause of Gout is animal products. I was literally hobbling around with a limp! My daily 5 mile walk was a distant memory. Would I ever be able to wear my cute heels again?? I was desperate!! Upon further investigation I found that beans & peas could cause symptoms as well. Not wanting to give up these foods that I enjoyed, I began searching for supplements that could possibly help. That's when I came across info that said barley could help. With so many to choose from I carefully began reading Amazon's reviews on the different ones. I personally purchase many supplements based on their reviews & this would be no exception. I wanted a powder because I didn't want to swallow 20 pills. I decided on Dr Hahiwara's Barley Green. Best decision I've ever made! Not only is the taste great when mixed with my fresh carrot juice, there's no digestive upset. Within 3 days my pain had diminished & after 2 weeks it was completely gone, like I never had it!! I'll be like the one reviewer who said that he's taken this product daily for 15 years! If you're having any kind of inflammation pain I strongly suggest you give this product a try, as you won't be disappointed!

The last couple times ordering this item the jar had been tampered with. The first time it happened we found a maggot in it. We love the product but not with these safety issues. I would not buy at this time until issue is addressed. Apparently we are not the only ones with this problem.
