D'Addario National Celluloid Thumb Picks, Large Tortoiseshell - 4-Pack

I like this Large thumb pick better than the Dunlop Medium. I can shape the National without heating and it seems to be holding it’s shape. The Dunlop requires heating and is more difficult to shape to fit. Both require some sandpaper to get the pick portion to my liking.

I find the Dunlop thumb picks (large) are still a little tight around the thumb. These give you just enough room, with no extra pressure. Great sound, full with powerful resonance. The pick is durable and precise. Highly recommended.

The tone is incredible, after 20+ years of playing I thought most picks just sound the same. I’m a finger style player and I typically use my index nail for strumming and rhythm and have my own sound as a result. I never learned picking style, it seemed unnatural to hold the pick they would just fly outta my hand as I played. Most thumb picks seem to pinch my thumb in an uncomfortable way but these are great. It stays put, it’s also comfortable, I haven’t felt the need to file or change anything about the profile. The tone is crazy warm and super smooth on the strings. I think I just found MY pick.
