Symphony No. 5 in E-Flat Major, Op. 82, in Full Score

I like the fact that Dover Books resurrects a lot of out-of-print or otherwise unavailable publications like this facsimile of the original score of the Sibelius fifth symphony. The print quality of the reproduction is not the best (or perhaps the quality of the original wasn't either), but in any event it is readable and the price was right.

Had to conduct this piece during a summer reading session and I wasn’t familiar with the work. The score was delivered within two days, and is clear and easy to read. I had ample time to prepare.

This is a reprint of the first edition published by Wilhelm Hansen (Copenhagen) in 1921. It has a few minor errors which were corrected by Paavo Berglund in the 70s. Very easy to read, but it certainly isn't the clearest or tightest print job you'll ever see. The score stays open to the page being viewed.I paid $10 for a new item. Excellent bargain.

This is a Dover reprint of "an authoritative early edition of the full score." Pluses include a commentary adapted from Robert Layton's 1980 New Grove article and the indication of the instrumentation on each page. However, the printing is messy. Beams connecting 16 notes are often completely blurred (e.g. pp. 12-13). Staff lines have not always been copied thoroughly, and written dynamic indications (but not symbols) are difficult to read. The score measures 8 1/4" x 11," making it just barely large enough for use in performance.

This is a great score, and unfortunately you can not buy all the Sibelius symphonies in one volume, but I highly recommend it!

Arrived quickly. Thjs edition is perfectly clear, and is easily worth the money. I will be buying more scores from this source.

Exactly as expected. Just the right size - ot too small so that it is difficult to read and not too bulky.

Dass die Papierqualität bei rund 16 Euro nicht die beste ist, kann man hinnehmen; wenn aber halbe Noten oft so verschwommen sind, dass man sie von Viertelnoten nicht unterscheiden kann, wenn die Balken der Sechzehntelnoten zu einem einzigen verschwimmen, Notenlinien an manchen Stellen aussetzen oder nur sehr schwach gezeichnet sind, an anderen Stellen wiederum so dick sind, dass sie halbe Noten unkenntlich machen, und der Gesamteindruck überhaupt ein eher "unscharfer" ist, wird ein Notentext eher unleserlich, und somit für meine Bedürfnisse unbrauchbar. Man versteht dann auch, dass das Kleingedruckte in der Einleitung - es handle sich um eine "republication of an authoritative early edition" - bedeutet, dass hier wahrscheinlich ein schlechtes Faksimile einer Uraltausgabe vorliegt.

Very good publication of a great work. Always satisfied with the Dover publications and I only wish they would do more, especially of large scale works. Arrived in pristine condition and on time. Thank you!

オケでこの曲を選曲されパート譜をみたら、ず〜〜〜〜っと同じ音ばかりのVa。どこを弾いているのか、一度落ちたら戻れない（＾＾；近所の楽器屋にはスコアは置いてなくて、オケのメンバーから紹介されました。大きいサイズのスコアで、見やすい割りには、安くて、購入してよかったです♪なかなかいい曲ですよね〜。
