Had an old chimney wood burner/heater for the garden that had been passed down to me from the previous house owner when they moved out. It had been sat out in all the elements gathering dust and rust and this year decided to clean it up and start using it. Used an abrasive disc on my Angle Grinder to remove most of the rust before applying this stuff. First thing to note, no primer needed, direct to metal. Tin arrived well packed, vacuum sealed to prevent spills in transit. Popped the tin open with a flat head screw driver. Firstly, yes it does pong a bit but you should ideally be outside so no matter. I decided that I didnt want to paint the heater using a brush as that would leave strokes and so used a spray gun attached to my air compressor. Managed to finish the job in around 2 hours, great finish, made the heater look brand new. I did cure it by heating up the heater for around 20mins as per instructions and it looks great. Will see how it gets on with rain and elements later down the line. EDIT UPDATE: Paint is still good, but I have noticed that after heating it up to cure it the paint has bubbled in some places (see 3rd pic). Not a major issue for me as it just adds that roughness to it, I have tried running my fingers over the bubbles and they remain stuck to the chiminea so no flaking there. I have also left it out in the rain for a bit when it did rain and so far i am pleased, it hasn't rusted nor has any of the paint flaked off.

Great paint but produced a lot of fumes when I first lit the stove. I suggest painting this on when the weather is warm enough to throw open the windows when you first light the wood stove. I waited until it was really cold and the fumes were pretty bad. Okay now and the appearance is really good

This is ideal for my solid fuel stove (both woodburning and smokeless fuel). It comes up a treat after just one coat and looks like new. There is a slight smell when you first get the stove heated up, but this passes and is only natural. Don't do what I did last year and try to paint the stove with Hammerite Metal Paint - the resultant fumes were terrible for an hour or so! I also used this paint (Rustins) to paint the area of fireplace around the stove - it worked well! All in all it seems to do its job very well.
