Yes it does ratchet and free wheel also.

Where can you find replacement hooks?

You will need the link length and width and diameter of links to order another hook or take hook to ace hardware.

Can this hoist lower a 600lb+ load in a controlled and precise manor so as to line up a bolt hole pattern of the load with the holes of the mounting?

This type of “come-a-longs” is mainly use for side to side pulling. If you want to hoist or lower, you should use a chain fall.

Does the hoist come with that exact nickel plated chain?

No, mine came with black steel chain

I'm very happy with this purchase. This Come Along hoist works great and is easy to use. I used it for leveling my 134 ft. pier. Tried a winch which was suppose to lift 1500 lbs. but I couldn't turn the handle to lift the pier and my weight combined.,This Come Along lifted it with ease. I should have bought this years ago. It's a lot safer then the winch andclamps I was using.
