Worth the money
I bought one of these when they first came out. Liked it so well I bought two more as Christmas presents.Only problem I had was that at first I tried to mount it on a metal base and it would not work. I made plastic mounts for the two I gave as presents and they also worked fine.

Very Disappointed
I have been using Amazon for along time, and everything that I have bought has been wonderful until I purchased this item. I guess I should have listened to other reviews for this product. I would NOT recommend this product to anybody. It worked one time, and then it did NOT work anymore. I sent the warranty to the company and it was returned to me with no address available for this company, I called the number in the booklet nobody would answer the phone and never called you back either after leaving a message. This thing has the Weather Channel Logo on the product and if I was the Weather Channel I would NOT even put my logo on this piece of Crap. People Please do NOT buy this product you will lose the amount you spent Plus the Taxes and its not worth the trouble. If I was Amazon I would NOT sell the item either.. Very disappointed, this was a Christmas present for my Dad. Never again will I buy from this company (La Crosse Technology).

Works well mostly almost - Good enough for the price for sure!
I had to take out the batteries for a few hours when the temperature dropped to below freezing and it started to rain but wouldn't read the signal. Still wouldn't work with new, fresh batteries until the unit warmed up to room temperature. Now it seems to be working correctly again. Good enough for the price for sure!

Very accurate!
This is very easy to install and set up. I have it installed out in the open, 4 feet off the ground right next to an "el cheapo", plastic, water collecting, rain gauge. The kind with numbers printed on it. After a few rainy days, the La Crosse consistently measured lower precipitation than the manual gauge. Upon close inspection I find the "teeter-totter" rocker mechanism is actually touching the side of the housing for the electonics. This may be causing enough resistance to the movement to cause a lower reading than it should. I've tried putting some lubricant on the offending side wall but need another rainy spurt to see if it did any good. The electronics are very good and the transmissions never drop out as they do for some of my wireless temperature monitors. Range is excellent.2/17/2011 Update after a few rain storms: After the minor adjustment mentioned above, this unit's accuracy is excellent! It's within .02" of the manual rain collector I have next to it and as reported in the local newspaper. I couldn't be happier with product!

Poor quality rain gage. I've had three in two years that failed
Low quality mfg. Rain gage fails electronically. Also the rain collector is easily clogged by organic material.Do not recommend.
