My desk top overhangs the frame of the desk by about one inch. The frame itself is also one inch thick. Would this clamp work with my desk?

I don't know for certain. There's 3/8 inch clears between the drop bar and the closest edge of the clamp head. The clamp head is ~ 1.5 inches in diameter
