If you want to be a k-rad wifi hacker - this is the device for you!
You read it right kids.I bought 2 of these (and 2 other types of radios) to map out all the spectrum channels in use for my companies 23 floors in a shared business tower. This device works great with Linux and Windows 7.Enjoy

As advertised. Great product!
The blue light is a bit bright, but overall this is the BEST 802.11 adapter I've ever owned (for wifi p0wnage)

Not Recommended.
After installing driver software on Windows 8.1 laptop the unit would not reboot. Luckily I had a fairly recent backup to load but it was still a lot of unnecessary work. Then I installed on a Windows 7 laptop and it worked fair as long as the PC did not go to sleep or you did not reboot then it would not connect to network again without unplugging and replugging cable.Sometimes it ended up disabled.Overall a big disappointment and a real pain.Returning ASAP.

Poor performance; probably a fake
A compared this adapter to two other alfa adapters I own: a AWUS036H and a AWUS06ACHM. The performance is terrible. Both the reported received dBm and the actual connection stability and speed are much much worse than the other two adapters. I used the same fixed antenna setup and swapped out the adapters to do an apples to apples comparison against a long range AP.The adapter I received is missing the hologram on the back. I looked at a few unboxing on you tube and all of them had a hologram. This likely means its a fake.As other reviewers have noted, the EEPROMs of the adapters shipped by this seller are coded to the GB regulatory domain, which is a royal pain in the backside as they say across the pond. You have to either update your regulatory domain for GB to increase the txpower or you have to modify the driver to ignore the EEPROM code. I did this, and while linux reports that txpower is fixed at 30dbm, I really couldn't verify given the poor signal quality.
