Winsor & NewtonDesigner's Gouache, 14 ml (0.47oz) tube, Permanent White

I use this with watercolors and it makes great washes mixed with color

The gouache by Winsor and Newton is amazing. It can be used alone but I mostly use it in combination with watercolors for areas of my paintings that I want to be solid color and for backgrounds. Sometimes I add a dab here and there to finished watercolors for just a touch of extra vibrant color. The permanent white is a great, bright white for highlights. They are quite expensive, perhaps purchase just one or two colors to start and add to your collection over time. You can use white gouache and add regular watercolor paint to it to give it color, which is useful and economic. I am attaching some pictures of my paintings where I incorporated gouache. Sometimes the paint can look patchy if you don’t apply it in a thin enough layer. You can see that effect in the ladybug image. To get as even a background as possible I like to do 2-3 thinned down layers of gouache. It makes a smooth, non reflective background and in black it’s almost like velvet. I highly recommend these quality gouache paints!

I use primarily Windsor Newton paints. They lay down very well and are an excellent quality. Good results are worth using these paints. The gouache is a must have for watercolor painting and I highly recommend this one.

I use this to refill the white paint brick for watercolor and I think it works great. Applies well, and with 2-3 layers you can get a nice white. The bottle will last a while, too.
