Love it!
Works AMAZING for a dog grooming salon gate. I don't have to fiddle around with the slide lock that someone had put on there before I got this. Very easy installation and holding up very well after a couple weeks of heavy use. We open it constantly.

Works well as a baby gate latch
I've built two baby gates out of wood: one for the top of the stars and one for the bottom. I wasn't very happy with fit-any-situation-adjustable baby gates on the market and the most difficult part was figuring out the latch. These latches were the result of weeks of looking for a suitable solution. Our 1.5 year-old can't open it yet which solves one of the problems. The magnet keeps it securely latched and I think it is neodymium (really strong). I also wanted the latch to support the side of the gate if he decides to climb it. The way the bolt fits into the other side of the latch allows for some support and keeps the gate from wiggling so I think it will hold well.

Simple yet ingenious little latch
I needed to add a latch for two iron gates and I wanted them to be able to swing inward and outward. This latch was the perfect answer. They like a tight gap between the gate and post, but work flawlessly. The body and latch have slots to allow for vertical and horizontal adjustment. I even use one with the body rotated 90 degrees to allow for attachment to a low wall instead of a post. The latch engages well as the gate passes by, in either direction. A simple tug on the head diengages the latch to open the gate. This setup does not allow for any locking of the gate so you will need another method if you require locking action. Great design, works like a charm.

Wonderful! I can’t believe I hesitated because it wasn’t cheap. Wish I would have bought sooner
The media could not be loaded. I have a 1yo and a 2yo. I can’t afford mistakes at the top of the stairs when it comes to forgetting to lock a baby gate. And I also can’t trust that my 2yo will remember to lock the gate behind him. I searched for MONTHS for a self closing and self locking baby gate that can be attached to a banister. There isn’t one.Ordered handmade gate from EtsySelf closing hinges from Home Depot (weigh gate first. They’re heavy)And this magical magnetic lock!!!!It’s perfect and I couldn’t ask for more. I’ve never walked past and it not be locked. What makes it so safe is the strength of the magnets. But that also makes it incredibly loud. Makes it tricky during nap time but it’s totally worth peace of mind at the top of the stairs.I added a cabinet softener rubber circle to the female end of the lock and it helped a lot without losing any safety.

Works Great, Buy D&D Instead
I should say that this product as a product is a 5/5 for me, but I feel seriously mislead and a bit ripped off. I ordered this one over the one from D&D, which is slightly cheaper and looks identical, but is also slightly lower rated.Well turns out this is the D&D one, just repackaged and marked up by National Hardware. The outside packaging is branded as National Hardware, but the instructions and everything else are branded D&D, even the listing picture if you look close enough!Save yourself and buy directly from D&D, it's the same lock. National Hardware, if you're going to repackage stuff and mark it up, the very least you could do is hide your competitor's branding.

Use for baby gate latch
I used this to make custom built baby-gates latch. I don't suspect the manufacturer rates this product for this use, so it is "at my own risk" so to speak, but my 2 year old can not open it despite it being physically accessible to them. It's a good magnet, and makes opening/closing the baby gate much less fiddly than the ridiculously lift+squeeze+dance+askNicely latches most baby gates seem to have. Swing the door shut and it latches with a nice click sound. I know it's locked every time. I'll add pictures in an updated review to show my use cases.

Great fix for shifting fence posts
I had a metal fence and gate installed earlier in the year. The problem is that our south Texas soil is pure clay garbage, so the ground heaves and contracts with rainfall, or lack thereof. It's not much, but it's enough to cause many gate latches, particularly the gravity latches, not to work. Gravity latches have almost zero room for tolerance - if the post side of the latch is even 1/4" higher or lower than the "V" in the other side of the latch, it won't lock or stay closed. This latch has a total of about 1" of horizontal adjustment. There's about 1/2" in the magnetic portion of the latch that receives the post - that area is oval so it can accept some movement. Then the magnetic portion also has slotted screw holes that allow another 1/2" of adjustment. The only downside, if you want to call it that, is that this unit specifies only 3/8" gap between the fence post and the gate post. I can't imagine a fence being built with that kind of close tolerance, and mine certainly was not. So you end up having to mount both sides of the latch overhanging a little. Otherwise it's a great device.
