Works great
The rock on the picture is Swedish granite, and it took only two of these expanders to break it in two. I drilled two 100 deep mm holes using my Boschhammer and a 14 mm rock drill bit. All done in ten minutes. Make sure to use a pneumatic rotary hammer, not a simple hammer drill, or it will take ages to drill holes in hard rock. And get good drill bits

Really effective
I’m using the wedge and feathers to break large sandstone blocks into manhandleable blocks to build a retaining wall. Works like a charm!

These work like a charm!
Using a hammer drill and a 9/16" masonry bit to make the holes, these slid in with zero effort. A few moderate taps with a 4lb hand sledge, and my ~14" thick boulder snapped apart cleanly and easily. I made a couple of follow up splits to break the boulder into more manageable pieces, and these were just as easy. The splitters took absolutely no deformations or damage, and aside from being dusty, look brand new. The rubber o-rings are a nice touch. Not only do they keep the 3 pieces bundled and organized, but they prevent a part from getting away from you and sliding all the way to the bottom of the hole. You can see that the holes I drilled for this split were quite deep. I performed other splits by drilling the holes only to an inch past the depth of the outer pieces, and this worked just as well. 4 to 5 inches is plenty. This is a perfect 5-star product.
