How much weight can this track handle? I want to hang sound dampening blankets that are pretty heavy

How can i reduce the space between the start of the curtains fabric and the track? Should i use shorter hooks?

I was going to try that but then I realized the price for the amount of hooks needed. I ended up using gaf tape at the top of the curtain (both sides) however, it does make the curtain more rigid & more of a pain to move.
