The Da Vinci Code [Blu-ray]

Unbelievable that many consider this to be 'non fiction' when it is purely fiction. After watching this fiction many believe the gnostic texts are 'older' then the New Testament Gospels...which is false. However, it is believable that the Gnostics still have not proven their theory...and they never will for they do not hold the Truth that sets one free.

The Da Vinci Code was the film version of the best-selling novel by Dan Brown. It was a mind bending thriller that questioned one of the core stories of the Bible and beliefs of Christianity. The film featured Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon a professor of symbology and Audrey Tautou as French police inspector Sophie Neveu. After Neveu’s grandfather is killed in the Louvre museum Langdon and Neveu go on a breathtaking treasure hunt for clues that leads them to the story of about the Holy Grail and Jesus.To show how intriguing and amazing the writing was for this story, which was adopted from Brown’s book, just look at what Langdon and Neveu discovered in the Louvre after the grandfather’s murder. First, the grandfather is laid out on the floor like Da Vinci’s Vitruvian man. Then they find that he wrote a message in invisible ink on the floor that can only be seen with a UAV light. Inspector Neveu arrives and together with Langdon discover that the grandfather left an anagram in his message which spells Leonardo Da Vinci and leads to his Mona Lisa painting where he left another anagram about Da Vinci’s Virgin of the Rocks where a key is discovered. The two then have to escape the museum because a French police Captain Bezu Fache (Jean Reno) believes that Langdon was involved in the elder Neveu’s murder. The movie continues like that throwing in art, culture, history, myths, and stories Brown created while also including a lot of thrills and adventure as Langdon and Neveu try to escape Fache.The Da Vinci Code was a great adventure, but even more than that, the story that Brown created and which was adapted to the big screen will totally blow your mind. It was one of the most original plots in ages.C

Fast paced adventure with violent action and even some thoughtful puzzle solving, The Da Vinci Code adapts Dan Brown's novel to the last word. Faithful in its adaptation, while Howard makes sure to take the questionable story with a serious tone. I found it helps the vibe of The Da Vinci Code as the material is well researched, but a stretch to believe, Howard instead focused on the journey as an exhilarating chase. It's really a quest for The Holy Grail. Darkened atmosphere ripe with murder and suspense, you never know what will happen next in The Da Vinci Code.Excellent performances from the entire elevate the flawed premise to a new level of entertaining. Tom Hanks as the symbolism professor Dr. Robert Langdon is very fun. Hanks makes you believe even the most ridiculous clues and ideas that The Da Vinci Code desperately wants you to believe. Hanks keeps you invested as he is quite compelling as a leading man meets everyman. Similarly, Audrey Tautou is delightful as the mysterious Sophie Neveu. She exudes charm and intrigue. You cannot help but feel for her troubled character. I really like Tautou as an actress and wish she could have gotten more roles in her acting career.Furthermore, I definitely enjoyed the various supporting cast members. Alfred Molina is perfect as the deeply corrupt Bishop Aringarosa. Similarly, Sir Ian McKellen is convincing as the knowledgeable and selfish Sir Leigh Teabing. Finally, I must mention the absolutely haunting and terrifying performance by Paul Bettany as the albino monk Silas. His every appearance is chilling to the core. He never feels over the top during The Da Vinci Code. He is a believable monster grounded in humble beginnings and devout spirituality. Bettany plays the self flagellating fanatic with a zealous passion. It is a wonderful performance.Overall, The Da Vinci Code will turn away the religious and the skeptics alike. But if you are looking for a fun mystery with action and intrigue, look no further than The Da Vinci Code. It's really a respectful take on religious conspiracy theories.

Why do people by Dvd/Blu-ray of films when they think the film is crap. Just so they can get off on writtenbad reviews. I had seen the film before on dvd, and it was fine, you did have to watch it all, with all the twistsin the story., But I get p***** off with all these people given out loads of bad reviews because when they saw it firstat the cinema, and then buy the film on disc's.

An Amazing tale and the truth is there will be thousands of descendants by now.A couple of historic errors like the Senechaux used to serve the Pope's dinner on a silver tray paraded through Rome and then test the food first.Also Dan missed a few tricks that could have added gravitas to the story. Like Da Vinci painted 2 versions of Madonna and Child. One is in Paris, where they filmed and another is in London, where they also filmed. Mary and baby Jesus or the babies of Jesus and Mary.If you look at The Last Supper properly you will see two figures that look like ladies.A few word plays they could have used. Princess means Sarah and Sophie means Wisdom. Plus Andre Vernet in English Andrew Green is a great friend of mine that I miss at the moment.All Said and done excellent 1 million percent from me.Ant XxxxxPS: AS he linked Jesus to the Royals he could have used the bible itself: King James version of course.

As for watching this when it first came out in the cinema in 2006 i did not get the whole controversy behind the book or the movie and some scenes i was confused about. Now that i recently finished the da vinci code book it was awesome by the way the film would be the same in pace and brilliance. I do love this movie i think tom hanks is such a quality actor to play Robert Langdon but some scenes i was looking forward to like more in the classroom were not there and i was a little disappointed. Anyway the whole adventure chasing through paris i loved and the pace was there can't wait to see angels and demons.

Tom Hanks, as brilliant as in his previous films, heads the cast as Robert Langdon: a symbologist who studies the hidden meanings behind symbols and legends. He is accompanied by a very gifted supporting cast that include Audrey Tatou, Iank Mckellen, Jean Reno, Paul Bettany and Alfred Molina.Ron Howard directs this film with an eye for action, emotion and landscape and his sweeping shots and simplistic elegance make this film all the more engaging. Akiva Goldsman pens Dan Brown's novel into film and a good job he's done too, including all the relevant details and retaining the historic fact that made the novel so interesting and suprising. The twists are, if you are ignorant to the novel, suprising and the action is suitably stages and is never over done so that it undermines the elegance of the history behind the story. Hans Zimmer delivers a sweeping, epic soundtrack and his score goes a long way in making this film all the more brilliant.Overall, The Da Vinci Code is one of the most entertaining films ever made: it is intriguing, engrossing, brilliantly acted and directed and provides historic detail that is so interesting it will make you want to hunt for the holy grail yourself.Ignore the critics who are slating this film's historical innacuracy, and just sit back and enjoy this awesome film. Besides whose to say this film is not accurate, is there proof that the grail wasn't in fact a person and that the priory of sion exist? You decide, the book and film certainly made me into a believer.The extras are admittedly a little light so i would recommend buying the extended to disc edition that not only gives you half an hour extra of film but hours of interesting bonus features.

Delivered very quickly and received Blue Ray and not ordinary DVD as ordered so I hope it will play OK. Advised by my wonderful next-door neighbours to get this as I have not seen it. Not watched it yet but anticipating a really good film.
