Good sprinkler for the price, sturdy
This is a decent pulsating sprinkler with all the features needed to customize the distance and area of spread. The product states it covers 85ft. diameter is misleading since that means it is a full circle. 1/2 of that is 42ft from the sprinkler. To cover that distance the sprinkler has to be "open". There are 2 other pieces to configure which will reduce the distance but break up straight distance spray. 1.) A screw by turning will come in contact with the water and disperse it so its more of a spray. 2.) flat metal piece that angles from top down so that you force the water to go lower to the ground. Both of these options will significantly reduce the distance by at least 1/2. If left in the open position the dispersion of the water between the sprinkler and the end distance is minimal, which means the majority of the water output is left at the circumference of the arc. There is also two metal contact points so you can start and end the area of coverage. Or leave the contact pivot point up and it will spin in a 360.Reviewers state that the stake is easily bent, I found it to be adequate perhaps my soil is a but soft but there are rocks underneath. I wouldn't go hammering or force stepping into the ground (although thats what it i meant for) as I can easily push and pull it out of the ground with my hands.Overall it is a good product for the price. Many in ground pulsating sprinkler systems overlap their coverage and I feel this will need the same. i wasn't expecting it to shoot water +100ft, but had to find a good dispersion point so it covers my entire lawn. To that I used the open setting then switch to more spray to get water evenly spread out. Not ideal but perhaps if spending more then I would get 2 of these.

Bought Two Sprinklers and Both Broke On the First Day
I looked at a lot of sprinklers online prior to buying two of these. I chose them because they're made of metal and they were the type we used for decades, purchased in the 70s. They looked the same. Boy, was I surprised that both of them broke the first day I used them. I had each attached to its own hose, on different pieces of grass. Here's what happened. I couldn't get the knack for standing on one booted foot while holding the sprinkler which was connected to a nice new heavy duty hose, balancing while bringing the other foot up to push on one of the crossbars to seat the sprinkler in the ground. It was kind of hilarious, my gyrations that weren't doing the job. Then I used a rubber mallet on the crosspieces, hitting one first, then the other. The sprinkler started to go down into the earth, but only two inches before the metal snapped in two.It was short enough to step on then, so I pushed it into the ground with my boot and left it to place the other one. The next sprinkler didn't beat around the bush - the metal stem broke into 3 pieces. When I took the picture the two little parts of the second picture were out of the frame). Well, in the excitement the rubber mallet struck the top of the sprinkler and the brass (?) fitting snapped in two. Needless to say, it was a good thing the rain fell the next day because these sprinklers just laid down and died. I shipped their joint coffin back to Amazon and they readily refunded my payment. The metal must be aluminum, nothing like the cast iron or steel of my younger days. It not only broke, but it twisted down and around too. I think they might work for a moist thick lawn that has built up over the years to soften the ground, but if you live in the country and your lawn grows from what's there, and it gets dry, don't bother with these. They are simply one more example of cutting quality on a product that used to excel. I ordered one of those yellow tractor sprinklers - and it is made of cast iron. Don't waste your time.

Performing as Expected Without Any Issues So Far
Living on the Central Texas Gulf Coast hot, dry summers are very normal for this region. We had been lucky to have been receiving at least one decent rain shower a week, up until the first week of August. By then it was time for me to need to start watering my grass. Between the 95+ temperatures and no rain, the grass in my yard was starting to turn brown in some spots. It was at this time that I come to find out that the sprinkler that I had used for the previous few summers was no longer working properly and I was in need of a new one. Unfortunately for me, no one store in my town still had water sprinklers available, so I had to order one online. This one seemed like a good choice because I did not want another plastic one.I have been using this sprinkler two to three times a week for the past 3 weeks and it has been performing as expected. I have not experienced any difficulties in placing the spike into the ground or having any parts of the sprinkler break, as I read some other buyers seemed to have problems with. I purchased this item at the regular price at which it was offered for personal use. I did NOT receive any type of promotional discount in exchange for this review. All statements made in this review in regard to this product represent my own genuine and honest opinions.

Looks like brass but it isn't
I was given this as a replacement for an all brass head from another Melnor product. The representative was giving me options but none was the one I actually ordered from. Then we came to this one and it looked like brass given the color. I get it in and it is just a painted aluminum of some sort. I don't think it will hold up over time but I will be giving it a whirl until it gives out.

Good sprinkler for the price
The media could not be loaded. I have mixed feelings about this sprinkler, because one of the two I purchased was broken (did not return after initial arc) when it got to me. From the reviews on amazon.com I suspect that this model has some quality control problems. For the price, I still think it's a good deal (considering they are easy to return). The water output + throw distance are really good, the wings on the spike keep it very stable, and the head does seem to be completely made out of metal and reasonably solid. Adjustments are easy but can take a bit to figure out if it's the first time you've used an impact.Even though I had to return one of these (out of 2), I am still buying two more.

Its works for... 15min...ish...
Arrived quickly with Prime. I put it to work the next evening. I hooked it up and messed around with it a bit until I had the sprinkler figured out. It has some cool features and can toss water a long way (compared to my old one anyway) so I set the parameters, stood there for several minutes being very impressed and making sure it was working well and it was, then I went inside. When I came back out 25min later it was stuck at the end of one of the stoppers. So I played around with it for several minutes trying different things but it keeps getting stuck on that same stopper. It stopped bouncing back and forth basically. It may be made of all brass and metal but it has a major flaw none the less. I'll try spraying it with a lubricant tomorrow and see if I can get this thing to work but my hopes are not very high.

Top quality sprinkler
When I saw the price for these all metal sprinkler, I decided to take a chance. I put them to work as soon as they arrived. They are made with all metal parts, not a single piece of plastic to be found. They were easy to adjust with big sized clamps that are easy to move, no guessing. The wings keep them firmly in place once inserted the ground. I run them single but they can easily be set in tandem providing there is sufficient pressure. 50 to 60psi seems to work. All in all, these are a very good alternative to more expensive commercial sprinklers. I put them away after use after applying a thin film of silicone spray to help prevent rust. They should last a very long time.

didnt work at first
bought 2, both had issues where the lever didnt snap back, pay attention to the sprint as it needs to be attached to the clips on both ends.once i figured all that out it works greats.
