interesting listen but could it have been done better?
I think this is the unabridged 3 CD-set with a running time of approx 3 hours and 30 minutes. this audio book is basically 'a collage' of some of the most inspirational books ever written, in a few words they recorded some extracts from various books from writers like Napoleon Hill and Joseph Murphy and they put them together. I am not saying it doesn't work well, but perhaps it could have been organised better.... if you are new to this kind of reading then you might enjoy more than I did or some other people might, but in my opinion it would have been better if they dedicated an entire chapter for example to one author or one book at a time. another comment in the third CD, there is a mixture of extracts of some text taken from books only 'the how to be rich' title should have been explained in terms of spirituality or being materialistic? I think this 3rd CD makes a confusion of concepts and it might be very well to the casual listener but if one listens carefully one might find that some of the theories contradict themselves, in my opinion they do anyway. Overall a great book but it should have been done better in my opinion.

Quality information, yet I prefer the actual books from the individual authors
One of the key words in the title is 'compact' because this book is essentially a compilation of many snippets of information/wisdom from some of the most recognized names in the personal development field: Napoleon Hill, Joseph Murphy, Robert Collier, Wallace D. Wattles, James Allen, Julia Seton, Ralph Waldo Trine and more.In and of itself, How to be Rich provides some worthwhile information for those seeking to enrich their lives; however, for those who are familiar with the aforementioned authors, the content will be familiar and likely not particularly useful. For those not overly familiar with the writings of the early 'New Thought' authors, How to be Rich could provide a cursory summary to some of the more common books in the "New Thought/New Age" genre, thereby serving as a decent resource to direct the reader to more comprehensive material.Regardless of whether or not the reader is familiar with the many authors who contributed to How to be Rich, I believe that it is important to remind the reader that 'Rich' doesn't exclusively apply to money. Indeed, the person reading this book with the sole purpose of discovering detailed techniques to accumulate vast sums of money will likely be very disappointed. The premise of this book, in my view, is that money is a by-product of 'right living' and when we organize our inner world correctly, THEN we will have the outer abundance to go with it. As Theron Q. Dumont so poignantly stated, 'Thought, not money, makes money.' Or, as Wallace D. Wattles says, 'Poverty and wealth are the results of internal states of mind, and only as mind changes will material change. Environment is only a big mirror in which we see ourselves reflected.'In their own way the other authors share a similar message and they also deal with topics such as: the real value of time, the importance of gratitude, the power of the subconscious mind, the destructive forces of fear and the key role that visualization plays in the manifestation of wealth. Overall, regardless of what particular aspect of wealth each author discusses, the consistent message is that our inner world, our thoughts, are the primary cause of our outer world and if we want to have a rich life we first need to have our inner world in order. So, to sum up my views: for those who have yet to embark on the adventure of consciously re-organizing their inner world this book could serve as a very tentative first step. Readers familiar with the authors included in this book will likely prefer other titles written exclusively by one specific author.

interesting but....
this is the unabridged (I think) 3 CD set.... it's all very interesting but the truth is if you are even remotely familiar with this positive thinking way of attracting wealth, you don't really need this... I suggest you read a proper book in the matter like the power of your subconscious mind or any other book mentioned, this edition is just a collage of sentences and concepts that make the picture.... taken from the books described. I am not too impressed on what they did on CD 3, it starts well with outlining how to attract wealth and the power of faith but then it goes on to another platform like how to be spiritually enlighted, not only it doesn't work for everyone including me, but I think it is not the subject of the book although 'how to be rich' can indeed be interpreted in a material and spiritual way, whatever the latter does not work for me. overall a good purchase especially if you are new to this kind of thinking but do not confuse Joseph Murphy's method with Napoleon Hills or other spiritual writers, although the message is clear 'you have to impress your subconscious mind to work for you' they have different starting points and perspectives. it would have been better perhaps to dedicate a CD or some chapters to JM and NH and so on instead of taking different parts of the books and collate them together.
