Size:3" (2.6x3.5") Sempervivums are desert plants, so they require gritty, fast-draining soil and can even be grown in pure gravel. Planting outside? Old, hard clay works well if the plant is mounded to support strong drainage. Avoid bark and wood chips, as they can rot the plants. Hen and Chicks thrives and gives the best coloring in full, hot sun. Frost-resistant, they are easy to grow outside in planters, troughs, rock gardens, and the cracks of dry stone walls. Neat rosettes multiply freely by runners that form dense colonies. You can expect the flowering rosettes to die after bloom time, but they will quickly be replaced. Cool weather enhances the color of most Sempervivums This plant is especially well suited in the creation of a miniature garden or fairy garden.
