LG Electronics PF85U Full HD LED Projector with Smart TV and Built-In Digital TV Tuner (2014 Model)

Love this product. I have a medium room and just enough projection distance (3.5m) and the projecor works like a charm. Great picture quality and features for such a compact size. I was not expecting it to be honest.It connects with my set-top box and blu-ray seamlessly. My family thoroughly enjoys watching big movies and sports events on it.I had the product shipped to India and Amazon 'shipped' it FREE OF COST while others would have ripped me apart in just freight.Not only that Amazon handled customs clearance and import duty ( additional - quoted at the time of checkout). I did a cross check with another import duty calculator site and it was about the same so that was great as well.And now cherry on top - just received an email from Amazon stating that they are refunding $150 as the import duty was reduced...Amazon rocks..you have a loyal customer now..... :-)

ProsThe image quality is superb!!! You can't see the pixels on an 84 inch screen from a feet away! The images are sharp and the colors are well balanced. I have a SONY Bravia 50 inch Full 1080p LED TV and honestly this projector rivals the TV (Just make sure that you have all the lights off lol)Integrated Wifi, WIDI, USB, HDMI, Optical Audio, and TV tuner.ConsThe screen size can only be adjusted by the distance of the projector to the screen.No 3D but who cares (It usually gives people a headache)Not very bright, make sure that where the projector is placed that lighting is minimized to a minimum if not the images will be washed-out.Very loud, when the projector is on full capacity the projector sounds like a computer tower on low though you can barely hear it.

the projector does not work in Brazil. Neither the Amazon or LG makes it clear that at the time of purchase ... Prejudice to total ... Disappointed!!!

I purchased this projector to upgrade from my LG PA75U projector. This one has a higher lumen output rating (1000 vs 700) and native 1080p. LG really delivered on that because the picture is definitely 30% brighter and crystal clear 1080p. You really see the difference over the dimmer 720p older model. Still washed out with any ambient room light, but in a darker room it is just perfect.I used the projector to create a 120inch diagonal 16:9 image on an elite screen. That is the edge of its advertised range, but the picture was excellent.The older PA75U projector had wifi built in. It advertised online streaming services, but it was a gimmick that required the use of a companion PC program to work. It did very well with DLNA streaming. If you had files shared from your phone, ipad, android tablet, pc, etc... It would find them and play them very well with minimal to no buffering.This newer model builds on that concept. DLNA streaming still just as good, if not faster loading. Now it has some of the popular web streaming apps built in. Netflix, Amazon Instant Video...etc. Noticeably missing are Hulu+, HBO GO, Showtime Anytime. Hulu+ is available on LG's online app store, but can't download to this projector memory.This model also has Wifi Direct connection, as well as Miracast screen mirroring. Both work very well.This model will stream content you have loaded into a LG Cloud account. You get 5gb free.You can also insert a FAT32 or NTFS formatted flash drive, and content loaded there will display (photos) or play (video.) Our videos are encoded for iPad HD 1080P. H264/AAC in a mp4 package. Those played perfectly with full access to fast forward, reverse, pause, etc functions. I did not try any other format/packaging.Still with the built in ATSC tuner. Pair it with one of those flat OTA antennas (not included...but one was included with the PA75U? hmm) and receive OTA HD programming free. I used it in the LA area. 30 miles from the transmitters and received all the local channels in very high quality. Winner here.Lots of useful ports. 2 HDMI, 2USB (the usb ports supply enough power to run chromecast stick or roku streaming stick)...etc.There is some form of built in bluetooth connectivity, but I couldn't get it to connect to external speaker. It may be designed only for proprietary LG headphones...according to a vague statement in the user manual. I used an external BT transmitter to link the projector with my soundbar. You will have a bit of "out of sync" audio with this arrangement. Barely noticeable, but it is there. But get this.....the projector has audio settings to correct for this!!!The LG engineers and designers thought of EVERYTHING. Great show!!!This would have been the perfect home entertainment display...but...damn there is always a "but"...The cooling fan runs all the time. At first I was so excited about all the great gadgetry that I didn't notice it. However by the 3rd day I began noticing it and it grew to be unbearable. It is a high pitched whine - I think it sounds like the little brother of a leaf blower that landscapers use. Once you notice it, you can't tune it out any longer. It becomes quite unbearable. It definitely competes with audio during quiet portions of the movie. Turn up the volume on your sound system and it fades to the background, but it is always still there.As far as I can see, there is no control for the fan. It is automatic and its intensity depends upon the brightness setting you have chosen in your eco-setting menu. The only way to slow it down and quiet it, is to turn the brightness down. Then the picture suffers in all except really dark rooms. Seriously, you will want to build an extra addition to your room to set this thing up, and have it project through a hole in the wall.If you can get past this one and only flaw, then this projector is a winner. Easily a 5 star product. Sadly, I can't. The Super Projector has to go back and I have to settle for a mere mortal one.

Great Projector, was looking for something portable, LED, Speakers, Smart tv, Fan noise not loud at all- could adjust fan noise w/ energy saver without significantly lessening the quality of the image. Focus image by rotating lens on projector and outputted clearly over 120in viewability on bare white wall. Image is clean, colors are bright, turns on quick, connects to wifi w/ ease, very simple to use. Also it was small enough to put on a camera tripod behind my couch - didn't have to drill in the ceiling for mounts etc. Great buy.

I've had this for a little over a month and I must say that I bought it because I was really impressed by the glowing review my friend gave about this product, I really love the fact that it boasts an extremely long life for the LED. The only thing that I don't like is the fact that it doesn't have a zoom, meaning that when you place place the projector it has to be done right so make sure you measure and double check it before drilling holes!

What a great addition to our back yard !! We are using it with the 144 inch outdoor screen we purchased from OutdoorCooking.com that is made by Camp Chef ($244). The picture is simply amazing and the special remote really makes it easy to use. We have already had several backyard "Movie Nights" and it is great family fun.A few minor points- I wish the unit had 2 leg adjustments on the bottom instead of just one in the center. I also wish that the unit came with a lens cap, or something to protect the lens. A lens cap with a short cord that would be permanently attached would be my idea.Overall, though this projector is slightly more expensive than others available, it is VERY well worth it with so many of the latest features possible. Very happy I made this purchase and Amazon had the best price.

overall a great projector with tons of features. for room with low or no light. But could get noisy if brightness is set to high lumens. Also missing 3D for the price.
